  • Patent number: 5353349
Abstract: A blank which may be erected to form a security shield for public telephones to guard against unauthorized visual access and theft of telephone calling card numbers and information. The blank includes a plurality of hingedly connected panels, and retention slots which engage cradle posts in a conventional telephone housing. A telephone security feature is provided by dimensioning the shield so that it extends around the periphery of the key pad and limits visual access to the user. The shield panels fold into a compact arrangement of overlying panels to facilitate its ready storage and accessibility to the user.

  • Patent number: 4751401
Abstract: A low voltage switch without moving elements, uses a triac power switching element in series with the AC load. A flip-flop circuit provides latching operation for On and Off functions. The triac is isolated from low-voltage actuating circuitry by an optoisolator which draws power from a step down transformer. The transformer also isolates the AC line from the manual switch circuits. A metal case is heat sink for the triac switching element. A threaded nipple, an integral portion of the casing, can be inserted through plug openings in standard electrical junction boxes to form a continuous heat flow path from the triac into the juncture box.

  • Patent number: 4736600
Abstract: A modular self-dispensing ice cream maker includes an open-ended chilling container which encloses a mixing chamber in which a dasher is mounted for bidirectional rotation. The container includes a cylindrical chamber which is at least partially filled with freezable solution for cooling ice cream ingredients. The open end of the mixing chamber receives a cover having a dispensing outlet. The ice cream maker is adapted for orientation in mixing and dispensing modes in which the container is respectively supported in generally vertical and horizontal orientations. The dasher includes blades configured to scrape an inner container wall during rotation in a first direction for mixing ice cream. Reverse rotation of the dasher advances ice cream toward the cover for dispensing.

  • Patent number: 4287817
Abstract: An apparatus for preparing infusions such as any of several forms of the beverage coffee can be constructed so as to include an enclosed container in which water is adapted to be heated so as to be utilized either as hot water or as steam. An electric heating element is associated with the container for heating the contents of the container. A bottom outlet from the container is adapted to convey hot water and is connected to a line or conduit to the inlet of an infuser or brewing basket, the outlet of which is adapted to convey a complete beverage or infusion to an appropriate container. A top outlet from the container is adapted to convey steam from the container through an appropriate conduit or line containing at least one valve to another container where such steam may be used in preparing a beverage such as cappuccino or may be employed for generalized heating purposes.

  • Patent number: 4068625
Abstract: This apparatus for moisturizing the intake air going into an engine carburetor has one or more venturi passageways, each defined by a water permeable, porous body surrounded by water. The intake air is drawn into the venturi passageway where it becomes moisturized or humidified before going into the carburetor.

  • Patent number: 3977612
Abstract: A grinding apparatus intended for domestic use in making nut butter from nuts such as peanuts can be constructed so as to utilize a housing containing a motor. The motor shaft is used to support a lower assembly and to drive a lower grinding disk forming a part of this assembly. An upper assembly is movably mounted on the lower assembly in such a manner that the relative position of an upper grinding disk relative to the lower grinding disk can be adjusted or varied in order to obtain what may be referred to as a "smoothly ground" product or what may be referred to as a "chunky ground" product consisting of particles ground to various different sizes. An actuator is provided for moving the upper assembly so as to obtain either of these types of products. A hopper structure is used to convey nuts or other material to be ground through the upper assembly to a space between the two grinding disks.
