  • Patent number: 6773104
Abstract: The application discloses a two-layered coating system using an ultraviolet absorber in its inner layer (called the blocking layer), furthest away from the source of ultraviolet exposure, with a fluorescent material that reflects ultraviolet radiation back as blue light. The ultraviolet absorber in the inner layer is used in sufficient concentration to have an ultraviolet cutoff, which can be extended with the fluorescent material. The ultraviolet block material of the present invention has transmittance of the light within a range of wavelength of 300-380 nm of 10% or less, preferably transmittance of the light within a range of wavelength of 300-390 nm of 10% or less, and, particularly preferably, transmittance of the light within a range of 300-400 nm of 10% or less, while it has a transmittance of the light within a range of 420-800 nm wavelength of 90% or more, or, preferably, 95% or more.

  • Publication number: 20030203132
Abstract: A means and method for protecting ink prints and other color surfaces, typically dye based prints from the adverse effects of moisture and oxygen, utilising a multilayered applied film including a first layer of polyvinylidene chloride, and a second resin layer overlying the first layer, facing a source of ultraviolet radiation, and including ultraviolet radiation absorbing and reflecting components. The film may be applied to opposite surfaces of a substrate which is then coated with an adhesive for application to the printed surface of the print.

  • Publication number: 20010033909
Abstract: A synthetic resinous tear strip seal or toner cartridge used in electrostatic copy machines, in which the longitudinal central area of the strip is reinforced by laminating additional planar material thereto in the area overlying the elongated opening in the toner cartridge, and preferably along at least part of the tear strip. The material may be similar to that of the seal, or of other material selected for electrostatic conductivity to dissipate the electrostatic attraction of the seal material to the toner particles in the toner cartridge hopper. Typically, a thin coating of aluminum is applied to the material which is of a synthetic resin.

  • Patent number: 6275675
Abstract: A replacement toner hopper for use with replaceable toner cartridges used in electrostatic copying and printing machines. The hopper provides increased capacity using converging hopper walls more horizontally oriented than those of the original hopper. The tendency of the particulate toner to adhere to the inner surfaces of the hopper walls is reduced by charging at least one of the hopper walls with a semi-conductive or conductive surface to electrostatically discharge the toner, charge normally carried by the toner.
