    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for scanning containers are described. An automatic scanning system is coupled to a vehicle that is configured to move containers within a warehouse. The automatic scanning system includes a sensor system that detects and locates a container relative to the sensor system. Based on the detected container being located within a suitable distance, the automatic scanning system triggers a lighting system and camera system. The triggered lighting system illuminates the item container and a placard positioned thereon. The camera system captures an image of the illuminated placard. The image of the placard is read by a computer, and based on the information on the placard, the item container is identified, and the vehicle or an operator thereof is instructed to move the item container to a location.
