Abstract: A lumbar orthosis, comprising a rigid thermoplastic plate molded to the contours of a patient's back and at least one permanent magnet located on the orthosis that can provide magnetic therapy for patients with severe back problems, and further comprising adjustable supplementary fasteners that enable the patient to tighten or loosen the orthosis without removing it. In an embodiment, the lumbar orthosis also comprises a hot/cold pack to provide therapeutic heat or cold to the injured area.
