Further disclosed is a porous film having: (a) a porous substrate having pores; and (b) a coating layer formed on at least one region selected from the group consisting of a surface of the substrate and a part of the pores present in the substrate, wherein the coating layer comprises styrene-butadiene rubber.     Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and method for variably controlling the disconnection or connection of switch connections between battery units in a large battery system based on the degree of a sensed dangerous external situation to convert the battery system into a small capacity and low voltage state. The apparatus includes: switches provided to interconnection lines between battery assembly units to electrically connect or disconnect the interconnection lines; a switch control module adapted to apply on/off signals to the switches; and a disconnection control module adapted to control the switch control module based on a sensed dangerous level to vary the position and number of the target switches to be opened or closed and the disconnection intervals. According to the apparatus and method, dangerous external situations of a large battery system can be sensed and the disconnection of physical connections between the battery units can be variably controlled.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a secondary battery having an electrode assembly mounted in a prismatic container, wherein the inside of an electrolyte injection hole formed in a base plate mounted to an open upper end of the prismatic container includes an upper part having a chamfered structure in which the diameter of the electrolyte injection hole is gradually decreased downward and a lower part having a non-chamfered structure continuously formed from the chamfered structure, and, when a sealing member is pressed into the electrolyte injection hole, the sealing member deformed into a shape corresponding to the electrolyte injection hole comes into tight contact with the chamfered structure due to shear stress between the chamfered structure and the sealing member and forms a sealed state due to frictional interaction between the non-chamfered structure and the sealing member.

An apparatus for detecting a fault of a battery pack including a plurality of cells includes a pack voltage measurement unit for measuring a voltage of the battery pack, a cell voltage measurement unit for measuring a plurality of cell voltage for the plurality of cells, and a control unit for determining whether there is a fault at the battery pack based on the voltage of the battery pack and the plurality of cell voltages. A battery pack and a load connected to the battery pack can be protected by detecting whether there is a fault at the battery.
