The method includes encoding the current block in accordance with the retrieved vector predictor, and generating a coded video bitstream including the current picture and the signaling data.

Responsive to the prediction information indicating that the current block is coded in ALWIP, the processing circuitry determines an ALWIP mode index irrespective of prediction modes of neighboring blocks adjacent to the current block, the ALWIP mode index indicating one of a plurality of ALWIP modes. The processing circuitry reconstructs the current block according to the one of the plurality of ALWIP modes.
