Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for mapping a touch sensing device to two sets of output objects. In one embodiment, the method includes mapping a first set of output objects into a plurality of one dimensional positions of a touch sensing device when a presence of a conductive object is determined to be in a first region, among a plurality of regions, of the touch sensing device. The method further includes mapping a second set of output objects into the plurality of one dimensional positions of the touch sensing device when the presence of the conductive object is determined to be in a second region, distinct from the first region, of the touch sensing device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for distinguishing a particular button operation from among multiple button operations on a sensing device having multiple sensor elements that are electrically coupled together. The apparatus may include a sensing device having a first sensor element and a second element that are electrically coupled to detect a presence of a conductive object on the sensing device. The method may include detecting a presence of a conductive object on a sensing device having multiple sensor elements that are electrically coupled, each sensor element corresponding to a button operation, and distinguishing between the multiple button operations.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for providing a touch-sensor device. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving absolute positioning data indicative of movement of a presence of a conductive object across a touch sensor pad in one of a plurality of directions relative to a function point. In one embodiment, the function point is at least one of a physical button or a virtual button of the touch sensor pad disposed in a region of the touch sensor pad configured to receive absolute positioning data. The method further includes processing a function when the movement accompanies detection of the conductive object at the function point.
