    Abstract: An adapter is disclosed herein. The adapter comprises a base, at least one retention element, a biased latch, a handle, and a switch. The base has a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first base surface is configured to receive a first surface of a mobile computing device. The at least one retention element is positioned on a front end of the base and is configured to receive a first end of the mobile computing device. The biased latch is positioned on a rear end of the base and is adapted to attach a second end of the mobile computing device. The handle is positioned on the second base surface and the switch is positioned on the second base surface adjacent to the handle. The switch is mechanically linked to the biased latch, and the biased latch is configured to release the mobile computing device from the base when the switch is actuated.

The device interface area includes an electrical connector operatively coupled to the housing, where the first electrical connector includes a first casing that supports blade-style electrical contacts and includes a resilient member that forms a sleeve around the first casing such that the first casing nests within the resilient member. The resilient member is disposed between the casing and the housing. The casing is configured to be movable relative to the housing by reversibly deforming the resilient member.

The housing is configured to be secured to the mount base forming a compartment between the housing and the mount base. The latching mechanism is configured to be located within the compartment of the housing. The latching mechanism including a button and at least one latch element and the latch mechanism is biased to a first position. Further, the housing has at least one opening where the at least one latch element is configured to secure to the mobile computer.
