  • Patent number: 8701893
Abstract: A magnetic separation device is provided, including a first magnetic field unit and a first separation unit disposed at a side of the first magnetic field unit. The first magnetic field unit includes a first magnetic yoke having opposite first and second surfaces, and a plurality of first magnets respectively disposed over the first and second surfaces, wherein the same magnetic poles of the plurality of first magnets face the first magnetic yoke. The first separation unit includes a body made of non-magnetic materials and a continuous piping disposed in the body, including at least one first section and at least one second section, wherein at least one second section is perpendicular to at least one first section, and at least one second section is adjacent to, and in parallel to a side of the first magnetic yoke not in contact with the plurality of first magnets.

  • Patent number: 6124002
Abstract: A method to manufacture magnetic recording medium including the step of subjecting the unfinished magnetic recording medium to a random orientation device prior to a drying step, to thereby remove the magnetic anisotropy of the magnetic recording medium caused by the preferential orientation of ferromagnetic fine particles along the travelling direction of the unfinished magnetic recording during the application of a magnetic coating composition onto a non-magnetic support strip. The random orientation device includes a magnet, which is oriented parallel to the plane of the non-magnetic strip and generates a set of lines of magnetic field. Each set of lines of magnetic fields are associated with only one magnet and contain both forward and backward directional magnetic fields in a direction perpendicular to the travelling direction of the unfinished magnetic recording medium. More than one magnet can be used; however, each magnet generates a separate and independent set of such lines of magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 4875946
Abstract: A heat-treatment process for producing rare earth-cobalt permanent magnets having relatively high and reproducible magnetic properties wherein one or more controlled cooling rates are applied in temperatures ranging from a sintering temperature and the isothermal annealing temperature. The controlled cooling rates are preferably divided into two steps. In the first step, the cooling rate is preferably greater than 10.degree. C./min. In the second step, the cooling rate is preferably less than 10.degree. C./min. and is ideally in the range of 2.degree.-4.degree. C./min. By the heat-treatment process of this invention, a permanent magnet having a high intrinsic coercivity of more than 20 kOe, a maximum energy product of greater than 19 MGOe, and a coercivity of greater than 8.1 kOe can be reproducibly obtained.
