    Abstract: Disclosed are a cathode active material for sodium-ion batteries and a preparation method therefor and an application thereof. The cathode active material has a chemical formula of NaxNiyFezMngMhAmO2, where M is selected from the group consisting of Ti, Al, Mg, Ca, Zr, Y, Zn, Nb, W and combinations thereof, A is selected from the group consisting of B, P, C and combinations thereof, 0.80?x?1.40, 0.05?y?0.95, 0.05?z?0.95, 0.05?g?0.95, 0.01?h?0.50, and 0.01?m?0.30. By adding M and A elements to the ternary iron-manganese-nickel cathode active material for sodium-ion batteries, and controlling the ratio of all elements, the present disclosure can achieve the formation of a perfect layered single-crystal structure of the cathode active material for sodium-ion batteries, with large particles, ultimately achieving the stability of the active material, and when used in sodium-ion batteries, it can significantly improve the cycling performance at high temperatures while ensuring high gram capacity.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method for preparing pyrrolidone, and the invention provides a method for catalytically preparing pyrrolidone with ?-aminobutyric acid in the presence of carnitine-CoA ligase CaiC. The carnitine-CoA ligase CaiC has an amino acid sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO:1. The ligase has catalytic activity in the cyclization of ?-aminobutyric acid to produce pyrrolidone. The carnitine-CoA ligase provided in the present invention affords a yield of pyrrolidone of 3.26 g/L and a molar yield of 39.53% in 24 h when ?-aminobutyric acid is used as a substrate, thus reducing the production period, improving the production of pyrrolidone, and accelerating the industrialization process of producing pyrrolidone by enzymatic conversion method.

    Abstract: A computerized method is provided for selecting a direction of formation of a slag puddle on a workpiece during processing of the workpiece by a thermal processing torch. The method comprises causing the torch to emit a thermal arc to gouge the workpiece at a first location without piercing through the workpiece. The method also includes translating the torch from the first location to a second location along a first direction on the workpiece while the torch is gouging the workpiece, the first direction substantially along the selected direction of slag puddle formation. The gouging and translating cause formation of a trench in a surface of the workpiece in the first direction. The method further includes causing the thermal arc emitted by the torch to pierce through the workpiece at the second location, which causes the formation of the slag puddle along the selected direction as guided by the trench.
