  • Publication number: 20240028294
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to quantitatively tracking food intake using smart glasses and/or other wearable devices. In some implementations, the smart glasses can include an image capture device, such as a camera, that can seamlessly capture images of food being eaten by the user. A computing device in communication with the smart glasses (or the smart glasses themselves) can identify the type and volume of food being eaten by applying object recognition and volume estimation techniques to the images. Additionally or alternatively, the smart glasses and/or other wearable devices can track a user's eating patterns through the number of bites taken throughout the day by capturing and analyzing hand-to-mouth motions and chewing. The computing device can log the type of food, volume of food, and/or number of bites taken and compute statistics that can be displayed to the user on the smart glasses.

  • Patent number: 11844623
Abstract: An apparatus for sleep tracking may include (i) a sensor that detects whether a wearable device is being worn by a user, (ii) a mode-switching module that switches the wearable device between an active mode when the sensor detects that the wearable device is being worn by the user and a sleep-tracking mode when the sensor detects that the wearable device is not being worn by the user, (iii) a detector that, when the wearable device is in the sleep-tracking mode, detects signals associated with sleep behavior of the user, and (iv) a sleep-tracking module that, when the wearable device is in the sleep-tracking mode, monitors the user's sleep based at least in part on an evaluation of the signals associated with the sleep behavior of the user. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20220212059
Abstract: A method includes irradiating a layer of photosensitive material with a beam of light having a selected polarization orientation, and scanning the beam of light over an iso-phasic contour of a pattern to be formed in the layer of photosensitive material while maintaining the selected polarization orientation. A computer-implemented method includes receiving, by a computer processor, a stream of sensory signals indicating user heart rate and/or respiration rate, accessing a workout script stored in memory, where the workout script has markup applied thereto that specifies one or more actions to be taken in response to the stream of sensory signals, determining, based on the received stream of sensory signals and the markup applied to the workout script, that the user heart rate and/or respiration rate falls outside a target zone, and adjusting content of the workout script in response to the determination.

  • Patent number: 7566853
Abstract: Image sensors are provided having a plurality of photodetectors in a detector layer Optionally, an optically transparent substrate is provided for a rear-illuminated sensor architecture. The photodetectors may be arranged in three or more arrays. Typically, each array is contiguous and is associated with light of a different color and/or wavelength. In addition, the arrays may be coplanar, or, in the alternative, located at increasing distances from a light-receiving surface in an at least partially nonoverlapping manner. Also provided are image sensor packages.
