    Abstract: A torque-adaptive impact tool suitable for a PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) bit is provided, which includes a PDC bit, a rotary-driving power device, and a torque-adaptive impact tool above the PDC bit. The torque-adaptive impact tool is located between the PDC bit and the rotary-driving power device, includes an outer housing, an upper end cover, a main shaft, an elastic element, an upper impact body, and a lower impact body. In a case of a normal operation of the bit, the tool does not impact the bit, but rotates along with the rotary-driving power device for drilling. In a case that a rock-breaking torque required by the bit exceeds a driving torque, the tool impact the bit.

    Abstract: An annular structure for an electronic flame off (EFO) wand of a wire bonder is positioned beneath a capillary of the wire bonder. The annular structure provides uniform heat to a bond wire extending from the capillary to form a free air ball (FAB). Because heat is uniformly applied to the bond wire, the FAB is uniformly formed and is centered with respect to the capillary. The FAB is then bonded to a bond pad of a substrate. Because the FAB was uniformly formed and is centered on the capillary, the FAB will also be centered on the bond pad.

    Abstract: A method of soldering one or more components to a substrate includes providing a substrate and applying an amount of solder material to the top planar surface of the substrate. One or more electrical components are mounted to the solder material in a predetermined position and orientation. A carrier is provided having one or more magnets embedded therein. The substrate is positioned above the carrier such that each of the one or more magnets is positioned directly below a corresponding electrical component. A carrier cover is positioned above the substrate and the electrical components. The solder material is heated to a predetermined temperature for a predetermined amount of time during which each of the magnets exerts a magnetic force on a corresponding electrical component to maintain its orientation relative to the substrate. The magnets reduce the occurrence of tombstoning of the electrical components during heating of the solder material.

    Abstract: In a battery management controller, analog-to-digital conversion circuitry converts analog signals, indicative of a battery voltage, a battery current, and a battery temperature, to digital signals. A memory stores a remaining-capacity lookup table that includes multiple groups of data. Each group of data includes a voltage, a current, a temperature, and a parameter associated with a remaining capacity corresponding to the voltage, the current and the temperature. A processor searches the lookup table for a current parameter value and an end-of-discharge parameter value based on the digital signals, and determines a full available charge capacity of the battery based on the current parameter value and the end-of-discharge parameter value. The processor also counts the number of charges flowing through the battery based on a battery current. The processor further determines an available state of charge of the battery according to the full available charge capacity and the number of charges.
