A ID recognition procedure is performed according to the speech correspondence signal, and a dialogue control signal is generated according to the result of the ID recognition procedure, and accordingly, a response speech signal is generated and transferred to the receiver to continue or terminate the dialogue. When the receiver is recognized to be matched with the specific person, a message delivering procedure is performed to deliver a message to be transferred to the specific person to the receiver.

The speech recognition module performs a speech recognition processing on a voice signal conforming to a syntax structure of Chinese word description. The speech recognition processing searches words related to the Chinese word description from the lexicon model according to a feature of the Chinese word description, and produces a literal word series in digital data form by referring a syntax combination probability. The language model based on the syntax structure of Chinese word description provides the syntax combination probability according to combination relations between the searched words. The parsing module analyzes the syntax structure of the literal word series for retrieving the Chinese word.

The invention provides a method of adding new words to a speech recognition system, for example, a speaker-independent Chinese speech recognition system, for updating its vocabulary database. In the invention, voice signals indicating a description of Chinese characters/syllables are input sequentially, and feature parameters are derived from the voice signals. The feature parameters are compared with a description constraint unit to determine corresponding characters or syllables. The characters or syllables are stored in a storage unit. After confirmation by users, the characters or syllables are combined into a new word.
