  • Publication number: 20200383889
Abstract: The invention provides high viscosity, low polyol compositions. By using surfactant system wherein 50% or more of the surfactant system comprises a surfactant of defined Vh/Icao value, it is possible to provide such composition having good foam appearance. If surfactants of such value are not used, the high polyol, low viscosity composition have “bad” foam attributes (not “self-foaming), when measured for example after pumping through mechanical pump (composition has 0 to 0.5% propellant gel or gas).

  • Publication number: 20190388314
Abstract: The invention relates to high polyol compositions comprising foaming, preferably mild surfactants. While xanthan gum is normally incompatible with such composition, applicants have surprisingly found compositions (having specified particles size) and process for making such compositions such that xanthan gum can now be used as structurant.

  • Publication number: 20050244356
Abstract: The invention provides methods of enhancing moisture or reducing drying using wet skin treatment composition. These compositions are activated by water and retained efficiently on skin. Thus, the compositions (and methods used) impart desirable benefits to skin, are perceived to absorb quickly on wet skin and leave the skin feeling clean, but non-greasy.

  • Patent number: 5073591
Abstract: A method for producing an acidic, concentrated, polymeric emulsion that can be diluted and thereafter neutralized to provide a novel polymeric thickener is disclosed. The method comprises emulsion-polymerizing, in acidic aqueous media, a first monomer mixture which comprises an acidic moiety-containing monomer and an ethylenically-unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with the acidic moiety-containing monomer, for producing an alkali-soluble dispersion in the acidic aqueous media. The ethylenically-unsaturated monomer is selected from the group consisting of a mono vinylidene aromatic monomer, an alpha beta ethylenically-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester and its derivatives, a vinyl ester and its derivatives, an ethylenically-unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride and its derivatives, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 5057241
Abstract: Disclosed are thickened single phase detergent compositions for cleaning the body which have modified pseudoplastic characteristics because they contain a combination of two polymers which make them especially suitable for dispensing from containers which impart shear to the composition during dispensing and to methods for making such compositions. The compositions contain from about 1-20% anionic, nonionic and/or amphoteric surfactants and preferably contain anionic surfactants. The polymer imparting pseudoplastic characteristics is about 0.3 to 1.5% of an addition polymer of a C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alpha, beta-monoethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid, at least one monoethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable monomer lacking surfactant capacity and at least one monomer possessing surfactant capacity which is the reaction product of a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer with a nonionic surfactant compound.

  • Patent number: 4954558
Abstract: The stability and physical properties of high molecular weight emulsion polymers are improved by the addition of a low molecular weight support resin during the emulsion polymerization process.
