The method also includes generating a first battery monocell having a respective anode, cathode, first separator arranged therebetween, and a second separator arranged adjacent to the corresponding anode. The method additionally includes generating a second battery monocell having a respective anode, cathode, first separator arranged therebetween, and a second separator arranged adjacent to the corresponding anode. The method also includes stacking the first battery monocell and the second battery monocell such that the second separator of the first battery monocell is adjacent to the cathode of the second battery monocell. The method further includes arranging the stacked first and second battery monocells in the battery cell container.

    Abstract: A battery cell includes a first electrode stack and a second electrode stack, each having at least one pair of anode and cathode elements. The cell also includes a container defining an internal chamber housing the first and second electrode stacks and having external first and second battery terminals. The cell additionally includes a first electrically conductive tab connected to the first battery terminal and to each anode element in the first and second electrode stacks and having a first expandable portion arranged between the first and second electrode stacks. The cell also includes a second electrically conductive tab connected to the second battery terminal and to each cathode element in the first and second electrode stacks and having a second expandable portion arranged between the first and second electrode stacks. The expandable portions absorb alternating expansion and contraction of the subject electrode stacks during cell charging and discharging.

    Abstract: A method of annealing an exposed metal edge margin of a coated battery electrode strip to relieve stress and reduce wrinkling includes applying a magnetic field through an apertured magnetic shield to the exposed metal edge margins. The magnetic field induces eddy currents that heat the exposed metal edge margins to an annealing temperature, while the magnetic shield blocks the magnetic field near the near the coating to protect it from overheating. An apparatus for annealing an exposed metal edge margin of a coated battery electrode strip includes a source of magnetic field and an apertured magnetic shield. In an alternative embodiment, the apparatus includes a laser is for heating the exposed metal edge margin without overheating the coating.

The retrieved documents may be ranked according to how relevant the documents are to the user query. A subset of the documents is used as the search results based on the ranking. The search results from the search engine are combined with the user query to generate a prompt for an artificial intelligence model. Based on the prompt, a response in the natural language format is generated by the artificial intelligence model.

    Abstract: A mechanical design of a rechargeable battery cell (e.g., a Lithium-ion battery) disposed inside of a prismatic can, for use in electric vehicles and other electric-powered devices. The improved design uses a thermally conductive insert to divide the battery cell into two adjacent volumes that each hold a pair of stacked layers of a battery cell. This thermally conductive insert conducts heat from the center of the battery cell during battery recharging to actively-cooled channels disposed in a pair of cooling manifolds that are disposed on two vertical sides of the battery cell. Alternatively, or additionally, an actively-cooled bottom cold plate can be used. The pair of stacked battery layers can each be wound in a “jelly-roll” geometric configuration. The thermally conductive insert may be made of aluminum, aluminum alloy, copper, or copper alloy, and combinations thereof.

The battery cell includes an anode including a first conductive tab, a cathode including a second conductive tab, and a separator. The battery cell further includes two electrical connections, each attached to one of the first conductive tab or the second conductive tab and to one of a negative terminal and a positive terminal, respectively. The anode, the cathode, and the separator each include a common perimeter including a first portion matching a shape of an interior surface of the case and a second portion including a cut-out configured to recede from the interior surface. The second portion of the anode, the cathode, and the separator are aligned and create a region between the stack and the interior surface. The tabs and electrical connections are disposed within the region.
