Abstract: In a method for releasing a Radio Resource Control (RRC), connection a first RRC connection between a terminal and a network device is used for data transmission between the terminal and the network device. The method terminal releases a local resource of the first RRC connection and establishes a second RRC connection to the network device when releasing the first RRC connection. The terminal sends a registration message to the network device through the second RRC connection, where the registration message registers with the network device and indicates that the terminal has no service requirement on the second RRC connection. The terminal receives a second RRC connection release request from the network device, and releases a local resource of the second RRC connection in response to the second RRC connection release request.

Abstract: This application provides a terminal device and a communication method. The terminal device is in a dual-connectivity network including a long term evolution (LTE) link and a new radio (NR) link, and when the terminal device detects that the terminal device is in a power saving mode, and/or when the terminal device detects that battery power of the terminal device is less than or equal to a first preset value, and/or when the terminal device detects that temperature of a rear cover of the terminal device is greater than or equal to a second preset value, the terminal device releases the NR link, and uses the LTE link for communication.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a method for adjusting a quantity of data streams, a terminal, and a MIMO system. In this method, the terminal may actively negotiate the quantity of transport layers used in a downlink data transmission process with a network device based on an operation status of the terminal, so as to adaptively and dynamically adjust the quantity of data streams in the downlink data transmission process. This may reduce power consumption of the terminal and prolong a standby time of the terminal without affecting user experience while meeting requirements for a data transmission rate of the terminal.
