The body may also include a second module for receiving and/or transmitting waves, the estimated permittivity being determined based on the waves measured by the second module. The device may also perform a calibration of the device during a first time period to enable the device to estimate the blood glucose concentration of the user during the second time period.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a charger for a smart ring that includes a charger island disposed to the charger and configured to receive the smart ring. The charger island has a plurality of transmit antennas located in or on the charger island. When activated, a transmit antenna is configured to couple, via a Near Field Communication (NFC) chip/circuit, with a receive antenna on the smart ring for charging thereof. The active transmit antenna is based on an orientation of the smart ring on the charger island where the charging is performed regardless of alignment between the ring and the charger island. A conductive sheet can be included between the plurality of transmit antennas and an interior of the charger island in order to isolate the plurality of transmit antennas from one another.

The antennas share the same short pin with the width between at least two antennas of the plurality of antennas designed to minimize coupling when the at least two antennas operate at a same frequency. The short pin width is at least ?/8 where ? is based on a lowest frequency of operation of the antenna system, the lowest frequency of operation is about 2.4 GHz. The common short pin also includes a minimum distance to the associated antenna feed. Where the different short pins are located together the antenna includes a first short pin as a cylinder and a second short pin located within the cylinder without contact therebetween.

The formed slot antenna is a spiraled shape as to reduce the overall footprint of the slot antenna while keeping the required quarter-wavelength total effective length of an open-slot antenna. The formed slot antenna is wide enough to allow the antenna to accommodate a wide bandwidth and may include a plurality of steps to further allow for tuning of the length of the slot antenna. The two antennas fed from alternate ends and spaced closely together in which the connection of each antenna to ground causes the ground plane connections to be electrically far apart. A method of manufacturing an antenna system comprising antenna feeds which are connected via a spring pin and a ground pin that is formed partially by a screw connection, spring clip, or spring pin. The antenna elements are stamped and printed on a single non-conducting surface and the antenna carrier is connected to a circuit board that contains the active electronics.
