  • Patent number: 8612386
Abstract: A distributed database synchronization capability is provided herein. The distributed database synchronization capability may be implemented using one or more of a timer-based scheme and a token-based scheme. The distributed database synchronization capability enables synchronization of databases of nodes in various types of networks, including dynamic networks (e.g., such as rapidly deployable wireless networks) and various other types of networks. The synchronization of databases may include synchronization of databases as a whole and/or portions of databases (which may include any suitable database table or tables). The distributed database synchronization capability enables synchronization of databases of nodes under various dynamic conditions (e.g., synchronization of databases of nodes within a cluster of nodes, synchronization of databases of nodes between clusters of nodes, synchronization of databases of nodes by administrative domain, and the like).

  • Patent number: 6611533
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are provided for interworking the public telephone network and the IP network. The public telephone network transports a TCAP message in a first format, and the IP network transports an encapsulated TCAP message in a second format. A first interface communicates with the public telephone network, and exchanges TCAP messages therewith. A second interface communicates with the IP network, and exchanges encapsulated TCAP messages therewith. A processor operably connected to at least one of said first interface and said second interface translates TCAP messages in the first format to/from the encapsulated TCAP message in the second format. The processor is further adapted for forwarding TCAP messages in both formats to the respective network. The first format can be an SS7 protocol format, while the second format can be an IP protocol format as used in the IP network. Various message structures and encapsulation techniques are provided.

  • Patent number: 6578085
Abstract: A system and method for route optimization in a wireless Internet Protocol (IP) network. The system and method send, to a home agent, a data packet; transmit, to a mobile node, the data packet using a first address; maintain a list of correspondent nodes associated with the mobile node; send, to the correspondent node, a binding update message; and transmit, directly to the mobile node, subsequent data packets using the first address. The system and method additionally: transmit, to a home agent, a registration request comprising a new address; transmit, to a mobile node, a registration reply in response to the registration request; compare the new address to an old address; if the new address and the old address are not equal, transmit, to the correspondent node, a binding update message; transmit, to the home agent, a binding acknowledgment in response to the binding update message; and transmit, to the mobile node, all subsequent messages via the new address.

  • Patent number: 6529524
Abstract: Computer program products, related methods, and a protocol for interworking services between a public telephone network, including an Intelligent Network, and an internet protocol network are provided. A public telephone network transports a TCAP message in an SS7 protocol format, and an internet protocol network, or IP network, transports an encapsulated TCAP message in an IP protocol format. A STIPP (Simple TCAP-IP Interworking Protocol) protocol, represented as a computer data signal including a plurality of bits, is used for exchanging TCAP messages between IP network entities. The computer data signal comprises an internet protocol portion, a transport portion, and a STIP (Simple TCAP Interworking Part) portion. The STIP portion includes a STIP header for encapsulating the TCAP message therein for transmission between IP network entities. Various computer data signal embodiments are provided.

  • Patent number: 6257908
Abstract: A guard for an electrical receptacle uses a rotating cover to mask the slots in the receptacle. Catch pins engage the cover and hold it in its closed position. Springs means, or similar, automatically return the cover to the closed position. In the preferred form, the catch pins engage the same slots which provide access to the slots in the receptacle, allowing the pins to be released by partially inserting the electrical plug. The cover can then be rotated by turning the plug to align with the receptacle slots. The catch pins move with a certain amount of independence, requiring that both be released separately to allow the cover to turn. The guard may be implemented using a modified housing on the receptacle or as a retrofit cover usable with an existing receptacle.
