  • Patent number: 11829194
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for creating a computer-aided design (CAD) corresponding to a 2-dimensional rendering of an unfolded blank configured for manipulation into a 3-dimensional shape. The method includes obtaining a first digital, non-CAD design file containing information relating to the unfolded blank geometry but lacking metadata that defines cut or crease lines separately from surrounding content, and deriving, with a computer processor, a digital representation of the unfolded blank geometry based upon the first digital non-CAD design file. The digital representation includes defined data corresponding to a shape having one or more defined cut and/or crease lines. A system for performing the method includes a computer processor and machine-readable media accessible by the computer processor comprising non-transitory, instructions readable by the computer processor for performing the method steps of defining the digital non-CAD design file and deriving the digital representation therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20190339914
Abstract: In this method, a surface of a digital master of the printed product is subdivided into a plurality of areas based on at least a first area of the printed product being printed having a first set of color-affecting printing characteristics and at least a second area of the printed product having a second set of color-affecting printing characteristics. Each of the plurality of areas are assigned a printing press color profile or device link, and the colors from colorspaces corresponding to each set of color-affective printing characteristics are converted to a colorspace of the proofing device. This conversion is accomplished by determining, for each pixel, one of the plurality of areas of the digital master surface that the pixel belongs to, selecting the color profile or the device link profile, converting the values to proof colorant values, and assigning the proof colorant values to the proof.

  • Patent number: 9454705
Abstract: Performing automatic inspection on the results of a print job that prints variable data, including multiple printed instances of a page containing variable graphics. The inspection is to detect printing defects on a printed instance. In one embodiment, the method includes dividing the page into multiple non-overlapping areas using a page division map. The non-overlapping areas include one or more static areas that include only static graphics and one or more areas that include variable graphics. The method includes capturing an image of the printed instance and, for each of the non-overlapping areas, retrieving an indication indicating whether or not the area includes any variable graphics, retrieving a rasterized image of an instant of the area from a memory location according to the indication, and comparing the rasterized image with the captured image of the area to detect any printing defects in the area of the printed instance.

  • Patent number: 8830513
Abstract: Methods, and computer systems and computer program products for performing them, for storing a destination document from a source document. Recurring content in the source document is flattened and stored in a first memory location, and then for each page in the source document, the page is flattened using the variable and (stored) recurring content, and portions influenced by the variable content are extracted and stored in a second memory location The content in the first and second memory locations may be optionally color converted from a source color space to a device color space and stored in third and fourth memory locations, respectively. For each page n, a new page is added to the destination document comprising the flattened, recurring content stored in the first (or third, if color-converted) memory location and the flattened, variable content stored in the second (or fourth, if color-converted) memory location.
