Patent number: 7581471Abstract: A torque adaptor includes a body, a driving portion that rotates with respect to the body when a threshold torque is exceeded, a receiving portion engageable with a workpiece, and a gear plate that drives the receiving portion. The gear plate is driven by the driving portion, the driving engagement between the driving portion and the gear plate being released when a torque required to drive the gear plate exceeds the threshold torque. An adjusting member adjusts the force of engagement between the driving portion and the gear plate so as to adjust the threshold torque. The receiving portion is moveable along a longitudinal direction of the body between a first position in which the receiving portion engages the body such that a rotation of the driving portion rotates the receiving portion and the rotatable workpiece and a second position in which the receiving portion is disengaged from the body.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2006Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventors: Light Chiu, Kevin Tsai

Publication number: 20090193939Abstract: A wrench adapted to engage a workpiece to drive the workpiece rotationally. In one embodiment, the wrench comprises a head, a first jaw, and a second jaw. The first jaw carried by the head and forms a first workpiece engaging surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2008Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: THE STANLEY WORKSInventors: Light Chiu, Robert St. John

Publication number: 20090193941Abstract: A wrench adapted to engage a workpiece to drive the workpiece rotationally. In one embodiment, the wrench comprises a handle, a head, a first jaw, a track, a second jaw, and a biasing member. The first jaw is disposed on the head such that the position of the first jaw is adjustable toward and away from the jaw support along a first path, thereby enabling the wrench to be adapted for engagement with workpieces of different sizes. The second jaw is slidably seated in the track formed on the jaw support to slide along a second path between a first position and a second position. The second jaw further cooperates with the first jaw to grasp a workpiece therebetween and drive the workpiece in a first rotational direction if the head is driven in the first rotational direction by the handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2008Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: THE STANLEY WORKSInventors: Light Chiu, Robert St. John

Patent number: 7475619Abstract: A socket includes a body having a driving portion, a receiving portion engageable with a rotatable workpiece, a first gear portion capable of being operatively driven by rotation of the driving portion in a fastening direction and an opposite releasing direction, a second gear portion functionally cooperable to drive the receiving portion for rotating the workpiece, the second gear portion being constructed and arranged to engage with and be driven by the first gear portion. The driving engagement between the first gear portion and the second gear portion is released when a torque required to drive the second gear portion exceeds the threshold amount of torque. A biasing member applies a force of engagement between the first gear portion and the second gear portion, and an adjusting member functionally cooperable with the biasing member adjusts a magnitude of the force of engagement to adjust the threshold amount of torque.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2005Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventors: Light Chiu, Kevin Tsai

Patent number: 7066339Abstract: An adjustable hanging device includes a longitudinal body and an adjustable socket member. The longitudinal body has a hanging portion, a mounting portion extending downwardly from the hanging portion, and a guiding hole extending in the hanging portion along a transverse direction of the longitudinal body. The guiding hole has two transversely opposite stop ends. The adjustable socket member is formed with a hanging hole, and is slidable in the guiding hole along the transverse direction between the transversely opposite stop ends so as to adjust position of the hanging hole relative to the center of gravity of the total mass of the adjustable hanging device and at least one object mounted on the adjustable hanging device.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2004Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Assignee: Stanley Chiro International Ltd.Inventors: Light Chiu, Steve Huang
