    Abstract: The present invention provides an extract of Taiwanese wild grape (Vitis thunbergii var. taiwaniana), which is prepared by extracting one or more tissues of Vitis thunbergii var. taiwaniana with 10 wt % to 100 wt % alcohol solution or water to obtain an extract solution, and then drying said extract solution. The extract of Vitis thunbergii var. taiwaniana of the present invention has the function of regulating blood pressure, and therefore can be used to prevent and treat hypertension. The present invention also provides a method for purifying (+)-vitisin A and ampelopsin C from Vitis thunbergii var. taiwaniana and a use of these two compounds for hypertension prevention and treatment.
