The lock device may be quickly engaged onto the lock rod to lock the lock rod to the elements and to solidly secure the trailer to the vehicle. The lock device includes a latch slidably received in a housing, and a spring biasing the latch to engage with the lock rod, and an actuator actuated by a core with a key to disengage the latch from the rod against the spring.
