  • Patent number: 7418254
Abstract: A dynamic service application is stored and executed on a mobile or wireless communication device (e.g., a cellular telephone) to enable it to be programmed without specialized hardware, software, and other proprietary information. For example, dynamic service application programs or scripts may be entered directly by a user or may be received as a wireless or radiated digital message transmission. The dynamic service application executes the dynamic service application script, which is of a format to accommodate wireless or radiated transmission and storage on the device. The dynamic service application script may be written directly by a user on a computer or a mobile communication device or may be written with the aid of scripting “wizard” software that runs on a computer and guides the writing of script without the user having to work directly with the dynamic service application script.

  • Publication number: 20080154673
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can identify relevant features or characteristics of one or more shoppers in the vicinity of a business establishment. In addition, the architecture can monitor resources both of the business establishment as well as other remote or disparate businesses. Based upon the shopper traffic data and the resource data, the architecture can determine or infer a traffic modifier (e.g., an advertisement or incentive) that can be transmitted to a display device that is typically in close proximity to the business establishment in order to modify behavior of the shopper as well as to adjust resources based upon inferred results of the modified behavior.

  • Publication number: 20080154703
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can facilitate enhanced experiences in connection with consumer shopping and/or vendor advertising. The architecture can receive an intent parameter that relates to a shopping objective of a shopper, associate the shopper with a profile, receive a set of advertisements from one or more vendors, and select a suitable advertisement for display to the shopper based upon the intent parameter and/or the profile. The architecture can also maintain a veracity score for the shopper that can indicate the shopper's tendencies to follow through with objectives listed in the intent parameters. The veracity score can be utilized, e.g., as a benchmark for bidding advertisers.

  • Publication number: 20080154698
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can utilize features of a product to facilitate organization and/or classification of products or product features as well as opinions relating to those products or product features into market identifiers. The market identifiers can aid in aggregating opinions in a more relevant manner that potentially requires less user information about a user in order to achieve bone fide targeting. The architecture can employ data mining techniques to gather information relating to products and opinions thereof in order to create or update data tables and can further allow a user to configure the market identifier in various ways.

  • Publication number: 20080154898
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can create a wish list based upon a variety of inputs and criteria. In one aspect the architecture can generate a wish list based upon one or more images of an item desired by a user. Accordingly, the architecture can examine the image to identify the desired item and to extract relevant features from the item in order to, e.g., match the imaged item to a catalog item for sale by a vendor. In another aspect, the architecture can access information associated with a third party to build a wish list for a user. Appreciably, according to the particular aspect, the wish list can include items that are designated to a particular beneficiary.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can quantify a value of a consumer transaction to a market ecosystem. The value to the ecosystem of the transaction can be based upon features of the transaction as well as dynamics unique to the ecosystem. In addition, the value can be monetized as well as aggregated in order to produce a net economic value of a set of transactions involving a particular consumer. The architecture can further facilitate a repatriation of all or portions of the net economic value to the consumer, potentially based upon ranking and/or loyalty tiers.

  • Publication number: 20080154705
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can facilitate use of beneficial advertising opportunities in order to mitigate risks to a seller in connection with advertising expenses. The architecture can receive from the seller, inter alia, an indication of profits allocated to a host in exchange for advertising an item on behalf of the seller. Based upon the received data as well as information obtained from other sources, the architecture can determine a value associated with advertising for the seller. By ranking the values, the architecture can efficiently allocate advertising resources to the sellers that provide the highest value, while at the same time effectively ensure that the seller has little or no risk associated with the costs of advertising.

  • Publication number: 20080154626
Abstract: Aggregating ownership of certain types of intellectual property and providing withdrawal privileges based at least in part on individual contribution to the common ownership is described herein. Particularly, electronic media can be received, parsed, aggregated with other media, and stored as a superset of media. The superset can be owned commonly by those who submitted media to the trust based in part on a number, type, value, and/or demand, or the like, of submitted media. Further, participants can withdraw media items from the trust based in part on submission of media to the trust. Accordingly, individuals can aggregate collections of digital media and share such media in a manner that complies with DRM restrictions and intellectual property rights of associated entities.

  • Publication number: 20080155576
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture or extension to a window manager. In particular, the extension can provide for a window rotation feature that can be exposed as a rotate button. Additionally or alternatively, the rotation feature can be activated based upon a diverse set of conditions, events, and/or commands. Upon activation of the rotation feature, the window manager can rotate a window about an axis to expose a secondary surface that can be populated with alternative content that is distinct from the content of the primary surface of the window. In addition, the architecture provides techniques for identifying both double-sided graphical objects and potentially double-sided objects.

  • Publication number: 20080104393
Abstract: A system that can assist users to manage a personal active directory for all of their information maintained within a cloud-based environment is provided. The identity of a client that accesses data is monitored and recorded in a log. In turn, this information can be made available to the owner of the information in order to develop a desired access control list (ACL). Additionally, the system can employ a heuristic component that can automatically establish the ACL on the owner's behalf. As well, the system can track how information is being accessed (or attempted to be accessed) by other people therefore, giving the owner of the information the opportunity to restrict or allow access based upon any number of recorded factors (e.g., identity, context).
