    Abstract: A battery cell and a battery pack are provided. The battery cell includes a housing and a blocking member. The housing has a first accommodating chamber with an opening at one end, and the blocking member is an insulating member that is deformable at high temperature. The blocking member is connected to the housing and blocks the opening. A protrusion is provided on a side of the blocking member away from the housing, and the protrusion is configured to break through a weak region on a pressure relief passage. The battery pack includes the battery cell described above, and when the battery cell has thermal runaway, the blocking member is heated to melt and deform and separate from the housing to release the pressure inside the battery cell.
