  • Patent number: 6384116
Abstract: The specification discloses a binder composition comprising a urea formaldehyde resin modified with a water soluble non-ionic amine oxide and optionally further modified with an anionic acrylic latex and/or a water soluble polymer comprising 40-100% by weight, based on polymer weight, of a polymerized ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, the polymer having a weight average molecular weight from 100,000 to 2,000,000. Glass fiber mats bonded with the binder composition as well as roofing products, e.g., shingles, prepared from the glass mats bonded with the binder composition of this invention are also disclosed. The binder composition containing the amine oxide provides superior tear strength to glass fiber mats and with the use of the latex and/or water soluble polymer an improved tensile strength of the mats, as well as to asphalt roofing and other products made therefrom while maintaining the high tear strength.

  • Publication number: 20020001974
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a zirconium oxide film for use in a semiconductor device by using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) which begins with setting a wafer in a reaction chamber. Thereafter, a zirconium source material of Zr(OC(CH3)3)4 (zirconium tetra—tert—butoxide) is supplied into the reaction chamber and then, an unreacted Zr(OC(CH3)3)4 is removed by a N2 purge or a vacuum purge. Subsequently, an oxygen source material is supplied into the reaction chamber, wherein the oxygen source material is selected from the group consisting of vaporized water (H2O), O2 gas, N2O gas and O3 gas. Finally, an unreacted oxygen source material is purged out from the reaction chamber.

  • Patent number: 6292060
Abstract: In this invention a single additional capacitor is added to a tuned cascode LNA which boosts the circuit Q and the gain of the amplifier. The added capacitor creates a negative real part of the impedance which when combined with the impedance of the LC tank circuit improves both the Q and the gain of the amplifier. The capacitor does not dissipate any power, and being a passive device the capacitor does not add additional noise to the circuit. With an improved gain there is a much improved signal to noise ratio. The higher Q allows the amplifier to provide some additional bandpass and reduce image reduction requirements in subsequent amplifier stages.

  • Patent number: 4722964
Abstract: This invention describes an improved cationic wet strength resin prepared from: an epichlorohydrin-ammonia intermediate reaction product; polyalkyleneamine-amide, and epichlorohydrin. This resin is not only efficient in imparting wet strength to paper but also provides that the treated paper is easier to repulp than paper treated with conventional epoxidized polyalkyleneamine-amide.

  • Patent number: 4537807
Abstract: A premoistened towelette or wiper type paper product having high wet strength when stored in an acidic pH medium and during usage and lower wet strength when immersed in a neutral or alkaline pH medium for disposal in conventional sewage systems comprising a non-woven fibrous web which is treated with an improved polymeric binder comprising a copolymer of glyoxal and polyvinyl alcohol which maintains high wet strength when stored for sustained periods of time in acidic pH wetting medium conventionally used for external cleansing of the human body and during usage and yet which will readily break-up during flushing. This instant invention also comprises a method of treating non-woven fibrous webs with the improved glyoxalated polyvinyl alcohol copolymer binder and drying prior to wetting in an acidic, e.g. boric acid medium.

  • Patent number: 4088530
Abstract: Paper of dry strength is produced by forming an aqueous solution of papermaking cellulose fibers and adding thereto a 90:10 to 98:2 copolymer of acrylamide and maleic acid followed by addition of alum. The use of the acrylamide-maleic acid copolymer allows production of paper at a much broader pH range towards the alkaline side which eliminates the need for close control of pH and which substantially reduces corrosion of the papermaking equipment.

  • Patent number: 4036682
Abstract: Paper of high dry strength is produced by adding to a solution of fibers from 0.1 to 2% of a cationic resin and from 0.1 to 2% of an anionic resin. Proportion of cationic to anionic resin is in the range of 99:1 to 50:50. The preferred cationic resin is a condensation product of acetone, formaldehyde and polyalkylene polyamine which is prepared in presence of a catalytic amount of a strong inorganic acid and has a mol ratio of 1:3:0.5, respectively. The anionic resin is a copolymer of acrylamide and maleic acid or its anhydride having a mol ratio of from 90:10 to 98:2.
