  • Publication number: 20250136444
Abstract: Methods which utilize low-grade heat produced in the hydrogen production process to reduce the energy required by the compressor to compress the PSA tail gas stream. The low-grade heat is used to produce a low-pressure steam stream. The low pressure steam stream is introduced to a steam turbine to generate power. The power produced by the turbine reduces the amount of power required to operate the tail gas compressor, thus reducing the overall power requirement for the process.

  • Publication number: 20240043752
Abstract: A Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process with a hybrid membrane/PSA configuration provides high component recoveries from FT off gas with minimum power consumption. Synthesis gas from a synthesis gas production zone is reacted in an FT reaction zone forming a liquid stream and an off gas stream. The off gas from the FT reaction zone, which contains hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane reactants, is recycled to the synthesis gas production zone. A purge stream from the recycle loop is sent to a membrane separation unit where it is separated into a permeate stream and a residue stream. The residue stream is separated in a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) unit into a fuel gas stream and a second stream. The second stream can be compressed and recycled to the synthesis gas production zone.

  • Patent number: 11180703
Abstract: Improved processes for production of gasoline with 95 RONC including a C5-C6 isomerization zone, two C7 isomerization zones, and a reforming zone are described. The first and second C7 isomerization zones share a common stabilizer which strips off the chlorides and removes the light ends. The capital and operating costs of the processes are reduced through the elimination of one of the stabilizer columns and the associated condenser, receiver, trim cooler, and reboiler. The processes improve the RONC of the C7 isomerization product because unconverted methylcyclohexane is recycled back to the second C7 isomerization zone to be converted into dimethylcyclopentane.

  • Patent number: 10301558
Abstract: An integrated process for production of gasoline has been described. The process includes a C5-C6 isomerization zone, two C7 isomerization zones separate by a deisoheptanizer, and a reforming zone. The use of two C7 isomerization zones eliminates the need for the large recycle stream from the deisoheptanizer. The low temperature in first C7 isomerization zone favors the formation of multi-branched C7 paraffins and cyclohexanes and maximizes C5+ yield. The separation between paraffin and cycloalkane in deisoheptanizer becomes easier due to conversion of cycloalkanes to cyclohexanes in the first C7 isomerization zone. Further, the high temperature in second C7 isomerization zone favors the formation of higher octane cyclopentanes over cyclohexanes. An aromatic-containing stream can be introduced to second C7 isomerization zone. The saturation of the aromatics in the second C7 isomerization zone provides heat that increases the reactor outlet temperature in the isomerization reactors to favor cyclopentanes.

The use of two C7 isomerization zones eliminates the need for the large recycle stream from the deisoheptanizer. The C6 cycloalkanes and heavies from the deisohexanizer are fed to the second C7 isomerization zone to increase the amount of 95 RONC gasoline produced. A higher percentage of 95 RONC gasoline may be achieved by further recycling C6 from deisoheptanizer overhead back to C5-C6 isomerization zone. Higher gasoline yields and higher percentage of 95 RONC gasoline is achieved over the whole naphtha complex with operating costs savings by fully integrating the C5-C6 isomerization zone, two C7 isomerization zones, deisohexanizer and deisoheptanizer columns.

  • Patent number: 9683179
Abstract: Processes for catalytic reforming in which a cracking inhibitor, such as an olefin, or a light olefin, is used to inhibit thermal cracking of larger hydrocarbons in non-reactive zones. The cracking inhibitor may be added at various positions through the processes, such as in the recycle gas stream, before a heater, before a stream is passed into a reforming zone, after an effluent stream is recovered from a reforming zone. A molar ratio of cracking inhibitor to hydrocarbons in stream may be between 0.01 and 0.2.
