  • Publication number: 20030180797
Abstract: The invention provides a method of identifying a population of bi-ligands to receptors in a receptor family. The method can include the steps of generating a first population of molecules comprising a specificity ligand having binding activity for a receptor in a receptor family, the specificity ligand attached to a first plurality of chemical moieties at a position on the specificity ligand to direct the specificity ligand to a specificity site and the chemical moieties to a conserved site of the receptor; screening the population of molecules for binding to the receptor; and identifying a bi-ligand having increased binding activity for the receptor relative to the specificity ligand alone, thereby identifying a common ligand having binding activity for the receptor. The method can further include the steps of generating a second population of molecules comprising the common ligand attached to a second plurality of chemical moieties.

  • Publication number: 20030174785
Abstract: 8PSK modulation methods and apparatuses are provided. In a first embodiment, product factors of symbol vectors and a coefficient of a shape filter are stored in a table and compressed by 8 times based on a law of a trigonometric function, wherein a method of table looking-up is used to replace a multiplication operation. In a second embodiment, all states of 8PSK modulation are stored in a table after shape filtering, and then the data of the states stored in the table are compressed based on a corresponding relationship of a law of a trigonometric function and an electrical level diversity, and then a table looking-up operation is performed. In a third embodiment, new modulated vectors are stored in a modulated phase table after simple 8PSK modulation and phase rotation, the modulated phase table is compressed by 4 times, and new modulated vectors are obtained by a table looking-up operation and data processing. Then, shape filtering is performed by utilizing a RAM coefficient filter.

  • Publication number: 20030104473
Abstract: The present invention provides common ligand mimics that act as common ligands for a receptor family. The present invention also provides bi-ligands containing these common ligand mimics. Bi-ligands of the invention provide enhanced affinity and/or selectivity of ligand binding to a receptor or receptor family through the synergistic action of the common ligand mimic and specificity ligand that compose the bi-ligand. The present invention also provides combinatorial libraries containing the common ligand mimics and bi-ligands of the invention. Further, the present invention provides methods for manufacturing the common ligand mimics and bi-ligands of the invention and methods for assaying the combinatorial libraries of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20030055822
Abstract: Database systems, methods and/or computer program products that include a database management system and a database having partitioned tables. The partitioned tables include at least two entity tables and a relationship table where the relationship table has a child-to-parent relationship to each of the entity tables. Keys and indices are defined for the entity tables and the relationship table so that the database management system maintains referential integrity between the relationship table and the entity tables to thereby enforce the child-parent relationship. The keys and indices include a primary key which includes one or more columns of a corresponding entity table. The columns of the primary key, however, does not include columns which are used only for partitioning the entity table.

  • Publication number: 20030046272
Abstract: Database systems, methods and/or computer program products provide for multiple but exclusive relationships between tables in a relational database. The multiple but exclusive relationship may be enforced based on a type associated with a record in a relating table. The multiple but exclusive relationship may be a one-to-many or a many-to-many relationship. A foreign key value of a record in a relating table may be selectively associated with a specific one of a plurality of related tables based on at least one attribute of the record containing the foreign key in the relating table. In particular embodiments of the present invention, the foreign key values of a record in the relating table are selectively associated with one of the plurality of related tables by defining a foreign key of records of the relating table and defining a plurality of types of foreign key associations, each of the types corresponding to a respective one of the plurality of related tables.

  • Publication number: 20030028506
Abstract: Systems, methods and/or computer program products store temporally spaced apart bursts of data records in a database, by deferring building an index for data records in a respective burst, until after storing at least some of the data records in the respective burst in the database. Index building for all of the data records in a burst may be deferred until after storing all the data records in the burst in the database. Thus, while the data burst is being received, little or no resources may need to be devoted to index building. Rather, index building may begin after termination of a data burst, when more resources may be available.

  • Publication number: 20030004949
Abstract: Systems, methods and/or computer program products for storing data from multiple clients in a database include a Multi-thread Shared Memory message Queue Buffer (MSMQB) that includes multiple First-In First-Out (FIFO) queues, a respective one of which is associated with a respective one of the clients. The MSMQB is configured to store sequential bursts of data records that are received from the clients in the associated FIFO queues. The data records in the sequential bursts are sorted by a primary key. A Semi-Merge Sort Module (SMSM) also is provided that is responsive to the FIFO queues in the MSMQB. The SMSM is configured to sort the first sequential bursts in the FIFO queues based on the primary key of at least one selected record therein, to produce a semi-sorted record stream. The SMSM also serially stores the semi-sorted record stream in the database. Thus, a database can handle multiple clients and multiple bursts for high throughput writing of data into the database.

  • Publication number: 20020086603
Abstract: A heat-preserving compound fiber cloth includes a sheet of outer fabric, a sheet of inner fabric, and a sheet of heat insulating layer having a predetermined uniform thickness. The heat insulating layer includes at least a fiber layer which includes a plurality of fiber filaments bonded on a construction film having flexible ability and permeability, wherein the construction film firmly and integrally holds the fiber filaments of the fiber layer together in such a manner that the heat insulating layer is adapted for being stretched and retaining an original shape. The heat insulating layer is bonded between the outer fabric and the inner fabric to form the heat-preserving compound fiber cloth. Accordingly, the heat-preserving compound fiber cloth provides better heat insulation and flexibility while having a minimum thickness for making interior wears, such as vests, long johns, sweaters and underwears.

  • Publication number: 20020084241
Abstract: This invention is one or more integral molded pull-up ring extended either vertically or horizontally from the top and the rim of the plastic bottle top. The end of the pull-up ring is free end and the other is the connecting end which connects to the bottle top. The free end forms a bigger and wider ring and the connecting end can be one or two. Moreover, at the connecting end, users can add one narrow space. When the pull-up ring is horizontal, users can install at both ends of the narrow space a protruding block and a withholding restrainer. When the pull-up ring becomes a perpendicular angle, it becomes easier for users to carry the container.

  • Publication number: 20020084240
Abstract: This innovation is a plastic pull-up ring which is part of the bottleneck ring. As a result, the pull-up ring enables users to hold and carry containers. The narrow space at the connecting end of the pull-up ring helps the ring to turn freely. The protruding block can match with the withholding restrainer closely when it turns 90 degrees. Moreover, a push will turn the pull-up ring to a perpendicular angle so that users can carry containers or bottles easily. When users want to connect two bottleneck rings, the narrow space on the pull-up ring enables the pull-up ring to turn freely. Two blocks can block each other once they are turned 90 degrees. The continuing convex and concave parts at the free end of the pull-up ring enable the pull-up rings on both the right and left to match and form a handle bar.
