  • Publication number: 20030114132
Abstract: Reliable decoding of quick paging channel is provided using first and second page indicators carried in a quick paging channel of a wireless communication system. First and second threshold values are established to determine whether the first and the second page indicators each, as received from a base station to a mobile station, is highly reliable, reasonably reliable, or unreliable. Preferably, the pilot strengths for the first and the second page indicators each is compared with the first and the second page indicators. Depending on the level of reliability of the first and the second page indicators, different actions are taken to determine whether the mobile station enters a sleep mode or decodes a next paging channel slot.

  • Publication number: 20030056158
Abstract: A frame error rate of received frames is estimated. Received frames are error correction decoded. It is determined whether an error correction decoded frame is a good frame. A decoded good frame is error correction encoded. The frame error rate is estimated on the basis of the error corrected good frame and a received frame.

  • Publication number: 20020146064
Abstract: A system and method suppresses the interference caused by non-orthogonal signals on multiple channels of the same receiver by applying an inverse of the correlation among the non-orthogonal signals to the decoded signals. In a multi-channel receiver, the receiver is aware of the codes that are allocated to each of the channels, and thus, can be configured to determine the correlation among the multiple codes that are allocated to a receiver. The inverse of this correlation is applied to the output of the correlators assigned to each code, thereby suppressing the effects of using non-orthogonal codes for transmissions to the same receiver. If different sized codes are allocated to the same receiver, the correlation of the shorter code and a corresponding segment of the longer code is computed. The inverse of the correlation for the segment is applied to the output of the correlators, corresponding in time to the processing of the shorter code and this segment of the longer code.

  • Publication number: 20020114378
Abstract: In a method of discriminating a received spread spectrum signal among a number of received spread spectrum signals that are transmitted over a transmission channel, the received spread spectrum signal is despread, thereby using a locally generated pseudo noise sequence with a given phase offset. The despread received spread spectrum signal is quantized so as to obtain a probability mass function estimate of the despread received spread spectrum signal. A difference is determined between the probability mass function estimate and a true probability mass function that corresponds to a transmitted spread spectrum signal before transmission over the transmission channel. The difference is accumulated over a given number of symbols so as to obtain a statistic of the received spread spectrum signal. If the statistic fails a test against a given threshold, the received spread spectrum signal is rejected. Otherwise, the statistic is accepted.

  • Patent number: 6420544
Abstract: Mouse OATP5 polypeptides and polynucleotides and method for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for screening for compounds which either agonize or antagonize mouse OATP5. Such compounds are expected to be useful in treatment of human diseases, including, but not limited to: cancer, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, central nervous system disorders, auto-immune disease, and kidney and liver disease.
