  • Patent number: 11584919
Abstract: A capsule composition comprising: (a) a polyester shell having a thickness of no more than 20 microns, and (b) a solution containing a visual and/or olfactory indicator, wherein the solution is encapsulated by the polyester shell. Also described herein is a method for detecting alpha particle radiation, in which: (i) the capsule composition is placed in contact with an esterase in a location where the presence of alpha particle radiation is being determined; (ii) waiting a period of time for the esterase to degrade the polyester shells, wherein the period of time is insufficient for the esterase to cause leakage of the solution in the absence of alpha particle radiation but is sufficient for alpha particle radiation, if present, to cause leakage from the capsule composition; and (iii) observing whether leakage has occurred at the end of the period of time to determine whether alpha particle radiation is present.

  • Patent number: 10571356
Abstract: Provided is a Fluorescent Air Leakage Detection (FALD) system and method for locating a defect in an enclosure that uses a nontoxic fluorescent solution as a marker. The solution is aerosolized with an atomizing device and guided to defects by a gas pressure modifying device. Defects are visually located by surveying the enclosure with an ultraviolet or visible light source and identifying a location where accumulated solution fluoresces.

  • Patent number: 9221076
Abstract: A composition for producing an optically clear, well bonded superhydrophobic coating includes a plurality of hydrophobic particles comprising an average particle size of about 200 nm or less, a binder at a binder concentration of from about 0.1 wt. % to about 0.5 wt. %, and a solvent. The hydrophobic particles may be present in the composition at a particle concentration of from about 0.1 wt. % to about 1 wt. %. An optically transparent, superhydrophobic surface includes a substrate, a plurality of hydrophobic particles having an average particle size of about 200 nm or less dispersed over the substrate, and a discontinuous binder layer bonding the hydrophobic particles to the substrate, where the hydrophobic particles and the binder layer form an optically transparent, superhydrophobic coating.

  • Patent number: 8689987
Abstract: A container adapter for use in feeding human infants and animal infants is shown. The container adapter has an internal threaded portion that can comprise a set of thread segments sized and configured to match the external threads of a commercially available soda or bottled liquid container, and can have an external threaded portion sized to match the internal threads of a standard nipple ring for an infant feeding bottle. The container adapter includes a funnel that provides a user with assistance in inserting infant feeding ingredients into the liquid container by placing the container adapter on the liquid container to use the funnel of the container adapter to place infant feeding ingredients into the liquid container. The container adapter is then inverted and installed onto the liquid container. A nipple within a collar is attached to the container adapter thus converting the liquid container to an infant feeding bottle.

  • Patent number: 5772055
Abstract: The present invention provides a rotatable tower for holding and displaying books, video cassettes, and like articles on a plurality of square shelves which extend in horizontal planes and are supported in vertically spaced relation to one another by a plurality of vertically extending rods, groups of which are interconnected into L-shaped configurations by L-shaped, horizontally extending rods. The shelves include an elongated slot formed from the midpoint of each edge inwardly towards the shelves' geometric center, and two laterally spaced notches formed in each edge to one side of the slot. Each edge of the shelves includes a downwardly extending flange along their entire lengths and an upwardly extending flange along a portion of the length to the opposite side of the slot in which the notches are formed. Each L-shaped group of vertically extending rods is comprised of four rods, two rods forming each leg of the L.
