  • Patent number: 9132078
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid dual phase cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising an oil phase and an aqueous phase, the composition containing as a demixing agent a film forming agent such as polyvinylpyrrolidone and derivatives thereof. The compositions of the invention are particularly useful as makeup removers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 2003

  • Publication number: 20100087548
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of formulating a liquid dual phase cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition in which the phases are separate before and after being mixed, the method comprising combining an aqueous phase and an oil phase, wherein one of the aqueous and oil phases has incorporated therein, as a demixing agent, an effective amount of a non-cationic film forming agent such as polyvinylpyrrolidone and copolymers thereof. The compositions of the invention are particularly useful as makeup removers.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20100040696
Abstract: The present invention relates to topical compositions containing a dispersion of composite particles. Each of such composite particles contains one or more core particles encapsulated or entrapped in a polymeric shell. At least some of the core particles are formed of a material capable of causing generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Each of the composite particles further contains: (1) a first antioxidant co-encapsulated or co-entrapped with the core particles inside the polymeric shell for quenching or scavenging ROS generated in the vicinity of the core particles, and (2) a second antioxidant coated over the polymeric shell for preventing or reducing oxidative damage to the skin, such as lipid peroxidation. The particle dispersion of the present invention therefore can be readily formulated into topical sunscreen compositions with organic sunscreen agents susceptible to oxidative decomposition or degradation to provide improved protection against skin damage caused by exposure to UV light.

  • Patent number: 6387405
Abstract: The present invention relates to cosmetic compositions for topical application to the skin. The compositions comprise an organopolysiloxane elastomer dispersed in a hydrocarbon vehicle. The present invention also includes a cosmetic composition comprising a silicone gel combined with a compatible cosmetically acceptable carrier where the silicone gel comprises the elastomer dispersed in the vehicle. The compositions of the invention are transfer resistant and produce a unique soft and powdery sensation on the skin due to the combination of the elastomer with the hydrocarbon vehicle.
