  • Patent number: 5732857
Abstract: A liquid dispenser having a housing defining a reservoir for a supply of liquid. The housing has an upwardly facing support surface. A bottle has a wall defining a receptacle for supply of liquid and a mouth through which liquid can be introduced to the receptacle and discharged from the receptacle. First structure cooperates between the bottle and the housing for removably maintaining the bottle in an operative state wherein liquid in the receptacle communicates under the force of gravity through the bottle mouth to the reservoir. Second structure is provided on at least one of the bottle and first structure for selectively blocking flow of liquid from the bottle receptacle through the bottle mouth to the liquid dispenser reservoir with the bottle in the operative state.

  • Patent number: 5388897
Abstract: A vacuum brake booster (12) for use in a brake system (10) having a traction control function to selectively effect a brake application of driving wheels of a vehicle to synchronize the rotational spin thereof. The vacuum brake booster (12) has movable wall (62) which separates a housing (56) into a front chamber (58) and a rear chamber (60). The front chamber (58) is connected to the rear chamber (60) by a first passage (61), a bore (59) and a second passage (63) in the movable wall (62). A first control valve (66) located in the bore (59) controls communication of a first fluid through the first passage (61) to the bore (59) and a second fluid to create a first pressure differential in the brake booster (12) and produce a first operational output to effect a brake application in an operational mode of operation. The first operational output force is supplied to a master cylinder (14) from which pressurized fluid is supplied to the wheel brakes to effect a brake application for the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5323689
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a tandem brake booster by selectively choosing a front shell having a first cylindrical body with first effective diameter, a transition shell having a second cylindrical body with a second effective diameter and a rear shell having a third cylindrical body with a third effective diameter. The cylindrical body of the transition shell is an integral component of an end wall which separates the interior the resulting tandem brake booster. The end wall has a peripheral ledge with a flange extending therefrom and a groove located on the flange connected to the second cylindrical body. An annular surface on the first cylindrical body is crimped into the groove on the flange while a corresponding annular surface on the second cylindrical body is crimped onto the third cylindrical to join the transition shell with the rear shell to form an integral unit.

  • Patent number: 5261313
Abstract: A brake booster having an initial output force produced a reaction force acting on a face of a second diameter of a plunger to produce a primary force which opposes an input force, an intermediate output force produced by the reaction force acting on a disc to produce a secondary force which is combined with the primary force to oppose the input force and an optimum output force which is produced from the differences between the input force and primary and second forces to effect a brake application.

  • Patent number: 5161453
Abstract: A method of establishing a spring force for a push rod of a control valve in a brake booster to set the force which opposes an operational input force. After attaching the push rod to a plunger, the plunger is located in the bore of a hub of a movable wall of the brake booster. When the plunger is installed in the bore, a groove located adjacent a threaded end of the push rod extends past the hub. A spring and sleeve are placed on the push rod and a fixture attached to the rear shell of the booster. The push rod and sleeve pass through an opening in the fixture to align the push rod within the axial center of the bore of the hub. A force is applied to the push rod to move the push rod within said bore to establish a rest position of the plunger with respect to a seat on a poppet valve. Thereafter, a force is applied to the sleeve to initially move the sleeve on said push rod to bring the spring into engagement with the hub and thereafter compress the spring until a predetermined spring force is established.
