  • Patent number: 6834717
Abstract: Tubing rotator 10 includes a main body or rotator spool 20, a selected bottom connector 50, and a selected top connector 70. The bottom connector 50 may be adapted for a screw cap type wellhead or a flanged wellhead. The top connector may comprise a pin connection mandrel 72 with either a threaded or flanged upper end, or a flow-T and/or BOP housing that bolts to the top of the spool. The tubing rotator may be adapted for hanging the tubing directly from the tubing rotator or may be used with a double box bushing 110 hung within the tubing rotator. The tubing rotator may also use a swivel hanger 120 included in the tubing head.

  • Patent number: 6386292
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for connection with a tubing string for use in a wellbore for regulating the flow of a fluid within a wellbore annulus between the tubing string and the wellbore. The apparatus includes a tubing rotator and at least one packer valve for connection with the tubing string, wherein the packer valve is actuatable through rotation of the tubing string by the tubing rotator. Rotation of the tubing string actuates the packer valve between a closed flow position wherein the packer valve substantially seals the wellbore annulus and an open flow position wherein the flow of the fluid is permitted through the wellbore annulus. The method includes the steps of suspending the tubing string in the wellbore by the tubing rotator, connecting the packer valve with the tubing string and rotating the tubing string by the tubing rotator in the first direction to actuate the packer valve to the closed flow position.

  • Patent number: 6095241
Abstract: A device for connection to a wellhead for coupling a drive assembly for a downhole pump with an apparatus having a rotatable member for driving the apparatus. A rotatable first shaft, having a first end and a longitudinal axis, is associated with the drive assembly such that the first shaft is rotated thereby. A rotatable connector, having driven and drive ends, connects the first shaft with the rotatable member such that rotation of the first shaft rotates the connector. The driven end connects with the first end of the first shaft. The drive end connects with the rotatable member. A rotatable coupler, having driven and drive ends and a longitudinal axis, connects the first shaft with the connector. The driven end of the coupler connects with the first end of the first shaft. The drive end of the coupler connects with the driven end of the connector.

  • Patent number: 6042718
Abstract: A process and apparatus for treating a crude oil containing water. An inlet introduces a flow of the crude oil into the apparatus, wherein at least a portion of the water is a vapor. A first separator disrupts the crude oil flow in order to separate at least a portion of the vapor from the crude oil to produce a treated oil. A heater heats the treated oil to produce a heated treated oil. Means for recycling a first amount of the heated treated oil from the heater to the inlet are provided. The first amount is at least sufficient to heat the crude oil to a temperature such that at least a portion of the water forms the vapor. At least one oil outlet removes the treated oil and at least one vapor outlet removes the vapor. Finally, means are provided for producing the flow of the crude oil. The process is preferably conducted using the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6026898
Abstract: A tubing head is provided for accommodating a rotator. The rotator includes a drive gear and a swivel tubing hanger which engages an internal surface of the tubing head and comprises a driven gear for engaging the drive gear. The tubing head defines a gear housing for the drive gear so that the drive gear may releasably engage the driven gear. The internal surface, gear housing and drive and driven gears are configured such that when the drive gear is in the gear housing, the tubing hanger engages the internal surface and the drive and driven gears are engaged, the tubing hanger may be removed from the tubing head by pulling it through the upper end without first disengaging the drive and driven gears. An apparatus is also provided comprising the tubing head, the swivel tubing hanger and the drive gear.

  • Patent number: 5653290
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for longitudinally adjusting the position of a rotating rod string, having an upper end and a lower end, in a production well of the type having a downhole rotary pump connected to the lower end of the rod string, means for driving the rotary pump by rotating the rod string, and a lower clamp operably connected to the driving means and releasably fixable near the upper end of the rod string such that operation of the driving means rotates the lower clamp which rotates the rod string. The device is comprised of a tubular inner sleeve having a threaded outer surface and a lower end for removably mounting on the lower clamp such that the rod string is contained therein and rotation of the lower clamp by the driving means rotates the inner sleeve. A tubular outer sleeve having an upper end and a threaded inner surface is mounted about and threadably engaged with the inner sleeve.
