  • Publication number: 20240052101
Abstract: Described herein is a polyamide composition comprising two polyamides and glass fiber, wherein one of the polyamides is a polyphthalamide formed by polycondensation from various monomers: dicarboxylic acid(s) with diamine(s) and/or amino acid(s), wherein at least one monomer contains a cyclohexyl group. It was surprisingly discovered that the polyamide composition has improved warpage and/or mold shrinkage properties, excellent mechanical performance and high Tg and/or Tm. Due to the excellent performance, the polyamide composition is suitable for molding and can be desirably incorporated into mobile electronic device applications.

  • Publication number: 20240052163
Abstract: Described herein are polymer compositions including a polyphthalamide having a carbon/amide molar ratio greater than 8, a functionalized polyolefin, and a glass fiber, where the weight ratio of the functionalized polyolefin to the total weight of the polyphthalamide and the functionalized polyolefin in the polymer composition is more than 0 and at most 27%. It was surprisingly discovered that the polymer compositions had excellent dielectric performance, acid resistance, and improved mechanical performance, particularly tensile elongation and un-notched Izod impact, relative to corresponding polymer compositions omitting such functionalized polyolefin. Due to the excellent performance, the polymer composition can be desirably incorporated into mobile electronic device components.

  • Patent number: 11840606
Abstract: Described here are blocky PEEK copolymers and corresponding synthesis methods. It was surprisingly found that synthesis of blocky PEEK copolymers in a non-solvent environment with respect to PEEK produced blocky PEEK copolymers with high degrees of functionalization and crystallinity. The blocky PEEK copolymers had an increased blocky structure, relative to corresponding PEEK copolymer synthesized with other known methods. Moreover, membranes formed from the blocky PEEK polymers are particularly desirable in fuel cell applications. For example, the membranes formed from the blocky PEEK polymers had surprisingly large ion conductivities as well as significantly improved chemical and thermal resistance, at least in part, to the improved functionalization and crystallinity.
