    Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for treating water to be treated, said method involving a filtration through at least one membrane coupled to an activated sludge reaction chamber, characterised in that added particles are present in at least one volume of activated sludge in contact with the membrane and in that variations in a flow generated in said volume of activated sludge parallel to the membrane are applied, enabling the creation of a level of average turbulent intensity greater than that corresponding to a constant flow in the immediate proximity of the membrane.
