Abstract: A programmable transmitter generates a frame in a frame format according to one of a plurality of operating modes using a frame structure table storing a respective frame format for each of the operating modes. The transmitter includes a frame structure engine that receives a mode selection signal indicative of a select operating mode, and accesses the frame structure table to determine the frame format of the select operating mode. The frame structure engine produces a control signal to a frame generator to control the generation of a frame in the frame format of the select operating mode.

Abstract: Content rights holders provide digital content to a hosting site to be used as reference content. The content owner specifies a policy for each digital content item, indicating how that content may be used on the site when uploaded by someone other than the content owner. An identification module compares the uploaded content against reference content. If the content matches reference content, the specified policy for that reference content is applied to the uploaded content. Policy options provided by the content owner include tracking the content to see how it is viewed, preventing the content from being distributed on the site, and allowing the content to be displayed in a revenue-sharing environment. In one embodiment, if the identification module matches the uploaded content to a reference item but the match does not have a sufficiently high level of confidence, the suggested match is queued for review by the content owner.

Abstract: A cushion device for a wheel of the wheeled luggage contains a seat member for installation to a bottom edge of the wheel luggage. The seat member contains an open compartment having a rotatable pin to a side of the opening of the compartment. The cushion device further contains a buffering member where the wheel of the wheeled luggage is rotatably mounted by the wheel's axle. The buffering member is housed inside the compartment of the seat member and hinged to the pin. A helix spring is provided inside the compartment between the seat member and the buffering member for absorbing the shock of the buffering member. The distance between the pin and the spring is longer than the distance between the pin and the axle of the wheel so that the spring will undergo on;y a fraction of the vibration force exerted on the wheel.

Abstract: Various aspects of a system for an adaptive VBLAST receiver for wireless MIMO detection may comprise utilizing log likelihood ratios (LLR) to selectively cancel interference in a received signal when information contained in one or more layers is encoded. Following the selective cancellation of interference, further computations may be performed on the residual received signal. Various aspects of the invention may comprise a linear detector with improved performance in comparison to some conventional VBLAST receivers. Performance may be measured by, for example, a packet error rate (PER) for a given signal to noise ratio (SNR) associated with the received signal.

Abstract: Various aspects of a method for minimum mean square error soft interference cancellation (MMSE-SIC) based sub-optimal maximum likelihood (ML) detection for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless system may comprise selecting at least one constellation point in a constellation map based on at least one of a plurality of received symbols. A number of the at least one constellation point may be less than or equal to a number of previously selected constellation points in a previous constellation map. At least one of the plurality of received symbols may be decoded based on the selected at least one constellation point.

The user of the printing system can print documents on the Internet without the personal computer and web browser Using Print Number System (PNS) and Universal Resource Locator (URL), a method for the printing system to print documents, includes: (1) use URLs to describe how to retrieve documents on the Internet; (2) store URLs in PNS server (63), and represent the URLs as print numbers; (3) thereafter, in the printing system, the user enters a print number in the keypad (54, 59, 60); (4) the printing system sends the number to PNS server (63); (5) PNS server (63) translates the print number into the URL, and sends the URL to the printing system; (6) according to the URL, the printing system retrieves the document over the Internet, and prints the document at the printer. The embedded thin film resistors are formed using a resistor layer built in the printed circuit board. Compared with conventional discrete resistors, embedded thin film resistors contribute to a smaller printed circuit board as the space for installing conventional resistors is saved, and better signal transmission speed and quality as the capacitive reactance effect caused by two connectors of the conventional resistors is avoided. The method for fabricating the embedded thin film resistors provided by the invention can be conducted using the process and equipment for conventional printed circuit boards and thereby saving the investment on new types of equipment. The method can be applied in the mass production of printed circuit boards and thereby reduce the manufacturing cost significantly.

Abstract: An integrated circuit radio transceiver and method therefor is operable to flexibly and efficiently interleave a digital bit stream arranged in a table characterized by N rows and N columns further including interleaving column and row bits in the table and frequency rotating interleaved bits in one interleaving step by extracting bits beginning at a row and column offset value specified for the table wherein the first extracted bit is not the first stored bit in the table. Subsequently, the transceiver and method are operable to swizzle interleaved and frequency rotated data bits extracted from the table. In one embodiment, the swizzling begins at a selectable and specified phase value. Further, a stream parser is configurable to produce any number of output streams based upon any number of input streams.

Abstract: An integrated circuit radio transceiver and method therefor is operable to flexibly and efficiently de-interleave a received communication signal by initially changing a received signal from the time domain to the frequency domain to generate a plurality of tones that are then rearranged in a first de-interleaving step to an order expected by a downstream decoder. Thereafter, the tones are detected to generate a soft bit sequence and are then reverse-swizzled and de-interleaved. The de-interleaving step is performed in a manner that compensates for row/column offset interleaving performed by a transmitter that transmitted the received signal being processed.

In one embodiment, main keys on a keyboard of a device are used in which the main keys have multiple symbols or functions associated therewith, and one or more assisting keys of the device are used to select between the symbols or functions on the main keys. In a further embodiment, identification of an input object such as the particular fingers of a user that are used to actuate a key region is performed. The symbol associated with the actuated key region and the finger (or other input object) used is determined. Various types of sensors and recognition technology are implemented in order to identify fingers (or other input objects) in various embodiments.

Abstract: A method for testing a printed circuit board includes manufacturing a dedicated testing board having protrusive metal points corresponding to the points to be tested on the printed circuit board. A pressure sensitive conductive rubber layer is inserted between the protrusive metal points and the test points. The method connects the protrusive metal points with the points to be tested on the printed circuit board by using the pressure from the press and the flexibility of the conductive rubber. The testing board having protrusive metal points is connected to the dedicated tester through flat cables so that each protrusive metal point is connected to a test node in the tester.

Abstract: A method and system for a bandwidth efficient medium access control (MAC) protocol is provided, which may comprise communicating a request to transmit (RTS) signal to a receiving station to determine if a channel is available for transmission. A clear to send (CTS) acknowledgement signal may be received from the receiving station if the channel is available for transmission. A plurality of medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (MPDU) fragments separated by a point coordination function (PCF) interframe space (PIFS) interval may be transmitted in response to the received CTS acknowledgement signal.

Abstract: A method and system for facilitating merchant-initiated online payments are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a payment service provider's server receives a user's request, via a merchant's server, to establish a merchant-initiated payment relationship or agreement. Accordingly, the payment service provider presents the user with options to customize the terms of the merchant-initiated payment agreement. After the agreement has been established and the terms customized, the merchant server communicates a merchant-initiated payment request to the pavement service provider for a transaction entered into with the user. The payment service provider's server processes the payment request after verifying that processing the payment does not exceed the user-customized terms of the agreement.

Abstract: A collaboration scheme for wireless communications devices implemented on a single CMOS integrated circuit is described. By providing a dynamically updateable, multiple-priority protocol, more differentiation between traffic types is provided and response time (latency) is reduced by adjusting the priority allocations between the devices when an application on one device requires greater throughput.

Abstract: A side view mirror assembly includes a casing inside which a reflector is mounted and a mount by which the casing and reflector are mounted to an automobile. The mount includes an outer frame member defining a triangular opening to receive a stack of first and second inner mount members. The first inner mount member has an outside surface on which two elongated slots are formed to each receive an L-shaped slide. Each L-shaped slides has a first section slidably received in the slot and a second section perpendicular to the first section and fixing an end of a helical spring of which an opposite end is fixed to the casing. The first section of the slide defines an inner-threaded hole. A bolt that extends through a hole defined in the second inner mount member and the slot of the first inner mount member is engageable with the inner-threaded hole of the slide. By tightening the bolt, the spring is elongated and inducing a force that securely retains the casing on the mount.
