  • Publication number: 20080077241
Abstract: A method of traumatizing a pair of adjacent vertebral endplates may provide a surgical instrument having a pivoting distal removable insert, a proximal handle portion, a body portion, and a linkage member positioned between the insert and the proximal handle portion, the insert having a first angular position relative to the body. A leading end of the insert may be placed in a first position between two adjacent vertebral endplates and moved to a second position between the adjacent vertebral endplates by impacting the proximal end portion of the surgical instrument. The insert may be pivoted to a second angular position relative to the body portion by rotating the handle about the body portion and may lock the second angular position of the distal insert. The insert may be moved to a third position between the adjacent vertebral endplates by impacting the proximal end portion of the surgical instrument.

  • Patent number: 7254149
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to optoelectronic devices, and particularly to a submount, pedestal, and bond wire assembly for a transistor outline package. A bottom surface of the submount is connected to a top surface of the pedestal. Each bond wire in a bond wire set is connected to a position on the top surface of the submount, and to a position on the signal line. The signal line is positioned a first distance from the position on the top surface of the submount and a second distance from the pedestal. The submount is sized such that a portion of the bottom and the top surface of the submount extends beyond the top surface of the pedestal such that the first distance is less than the second distance.

  • Patent number: 7253985
Abstract: A method for writing servo information onto a disk of a hard disk drive with a servo writer. The disk has a circumferential index and a band of servo reference tracks. The circumferential index is detected from a clock signal generated from a clock track of the disk. The reference tracks include radial indices. A spiral servo pattern is written upon the detection of the circumferential index and a radial index. The servo writer includes a phase detector that detects changes in the relative position of the circumferential and radial indices and a delay circuit that delays the clock signal to offset such changes.

  • Patent number: 7245828
Abstract: An optical transmitter that determines and controls the extinction ratio of an optical signal by modulating the duty cycle of the optical signal. The transmitter obtains a signal from the monitor circuit that represents optical power emitted by the electro-optic transducer during normal conditions in which the duty cycle of the optical signal is between a bias high and bias low modulation condition. The transmitter also obtains a signal from the monitor circuit that represents optical power emitted during the bias high modulation condition in which the time at the optical high power level in the eye diagram is greater. Also, the transmitter obtains a signal that represents optical power emitted by the electro-optic transducer during the bias low modulation condition in which the time at the optical low power level in the eye diagram is greater. Based on these signals, the transmitter then derives the extinction ratio.

  • Patent number: 7147387
Abstract: This disclosure is generally concerned with optical transceivers. In one example, an optical transceiver implements electronic dispersion compensation in the receive path, as well as optical preemphasis on the transmitted signal in order to improve aspects of optical performance on multimode fiber links, relative to systems that do not implement transmitter preemphasis. • Publication number: 20060112983
Abstract: Devices, compositions and methods for producing photoactive devices, systems and compositions that have improved conversion efficiencies relative to previously described devices, systems and compositions. • Patent number: 7054344
Abstract: A circuit for equalizing transmission line loss of a laser drive signal includes a laser driver, a laser diode, and a transmission line for connecting the laser driver to the laser diode. The laser driver includes a differential pair of transistors, a modulation current source and two sets of source impedance circuits. Each set of source impedance circuits is configured to produce a frequency response for compensating the frequency response of the lossy transmission line at a distinct corresponding operating frequency. The set of source impedance circuits may be tuned to generate approximately zero impedance when the operating frequency is approximately zero. Hence a lower voltage power supply can be used to power both the laser driver and the laser diode, which in turn reduces the power consumption of the circuit.

  • Patent number: 7044657
Abstract: An optoelectronic assembly includes an optoelectronic device, housed in a transistor outline (TO) package having a base and a signal lead traversing an aperture in the base, and a circuit interconnect coupled to the optoelectronic device and TO package. The circuit interconnect substantially comprises an insulator, and includes a data signal trace, a resistor, and a conductor. The data signal trace, on a first side of the insulator, transmits data signal current between the optoelectronic device and an external device. The resistor, also on the first side, transmits the data signal current between the optoelectronic device and the data signal trace. The resistor is electrically and mechanically connected to the signal lead and to data signal trace. The conductor, on a second side of the insulator, transmits a ground current between the TO package and the external device, and forms a current path substantially parallel to the data signal trace.
