  • Publication number: 20250353401
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for charging electric vehicles using handshake communication techniques. Systems and methods may include establishing communication between an electric vehicle (EV) and an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and initiating a charging session providing AC power to the EV. A current limit for an on-board EV charger may be determined based on a duty cycle associated with a signal from the EVSE, and the current limit may indicate a charging capability for the on-board EV charger When the charging capability is greater than a threshold amount, such as 19.2 kW, the AC power may be scaled to a second frequency to enable high-power charging.

  • Publication number: 20250353387
Abstract: Described herein is a method of high-power direct current (DC) charging of at least one vehicle battery. The method includes connecting an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to a vehicle charging system using a high-power connector. A handshake is performed between the EVSE and the vehicle charging system to initiate supply of AC power from the EVSE to the vehicle charging system via the high-power connector. The AC power is converted to DC power in excess of 19.2 kW by at least one on-board charger in the vehicle charging system. At least one vehicle battery is charged using the DC power in excess of 19.2 kW.

  • Patent number: 9718454
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and systems for hybrid powertrain control are disclosed. Certain example embodiments control an internal combustion engine and a motor/generator of a hybrid electric powertrain. Example controls may determine a total output demanded of a powertrain based at least in part upon an operator input, a battery output target based upon a battery state of charge and independent of the operator input, and an engine output target based upon the total output demanded and the battery output target. Such example controls may further determine a constrained engine output target, a modified battery output target based upon the total output demanded and the constrained engine output target, and a constrained battery output target based upon the modified battery output target and a battery constraint. Further embodiments, forms, objects, features, advantages, aspects, and benefits shall become apparent from the following description and figures.
