Publication number: 20220267052Abstract: A closure for a container is provided. The closure comprises a cap and a retaining ring arranged under the cap for retaining the closure on the container in use. The cap and ring are joined by a pair of connecting arms. A first arm is non-frangibly connected to the cap at a cap tether end and circumferentially anticlockwise therefrom is non-frangibly connected to the ring at a ring root end. A second arm is non-frangibly connected to the cap at a cap tether end and circumferentially clockwise therefrom is non-frangibly connected to the ring at a ring root end. The cap can be tilted away from the ring with the arms providing a hinge-like function, and each of the arms twists between its cap tether end and its ring root end, whereby tension is generated in the arms.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2019Publication date: August 25, 2022Inventors: Lino DREYER, Graeme HOOD, Alexandre ROUQUETTE, Sebastien WIDMER

Patent number: 6006930Abstract: For improving the venting behavior of containers with beverages containing carbon dioxide, a container finish (1) and a closure (11) is provided with a twin-start thread. The thread comprises in each case two threads (3, 13) which extend over an angle of 240.degree. to less than 360.degree., preferably 280.degree., and which are arranged so as to be displaced at 180.degree.. In this way, initial or first sections (5), in which the threads (3) overlap each other vertically, are formed on the outside surface (2) of the container finish (1), as well as second sections (6) in which, vertically, only one thread (3) is arranged. On the inside surface (12) of the closure (11), initial or first sections (15) are formed in which the threads (13) overlap each other vertically, as well as second sections (16) in which, vertically, only one thread (13) is arranged. In each of the sections (5, 6, 15, 16), at least one venting recess (4, 14) is arranged per thread, said venting recess interrupting the threads (3, 13).Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1998Date of Patent: December 28, 1999Assignee: Crown Cork AGInventors: Lino Dreyer, Richard Jauslin

Patent number: 5964363Abstract: A compression failure resistant tamper evident bottle cap includes a skirt with a lower edge, and a tamper-evident band formed integrally with the skirt and having structure for engaging beneath a retaining flange on the bottle so as to prevent subsequent withdrawal of the band. Frangible bridges connect the band to the lower edge of the skirt. To prevent destruction of the bridges as the cap is forced onto the bottle during installation, the skirt has one or more tabs or the like, extending downward over a portion of the band, for preventing undue diametral expansion of the tamper evident band as it passes over the retaining flange.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1998Date of Patent: October 12, 1999Assignee: Crown Cork & Seal Technologies CorporationInventors: Ronald L. Kelly, Michael T. Vavrik, Lino Dreyer
