  • Publication number: 20160255269
Abstract: Obtaining a digital image tagged with corrected image direction information includes capturing and storing a digital image of a scene defined by a field of view of a lifelog camera (10) used to capture the image. A forward-facing direction (28) of a user of the lifelog camera is identified, the forward-facing direction within the field of view of the lifelog camera. A component of the image that contains image data corresponding to a portion of the scene containing the forward-facing direction of the user is also identified. The digital image is then tagged with the identified component.

  • Publication number: 20160182866
Abstract: Video data is captured by an imaging sensor. Motion is detected in the captured video data, e.g., by applying image analysis to different video frames of the captured video data. At least one subarea of an overall imaging area of the imaging sensor is determined. The subarea is determined to correspond to a position of the detected motion. In the determined subarea, a video capturing frame rate applied which is higher than a video capturing frame rate applied in other parts of the overall imaging area.

  • Publication number: 20160014332
Abstract: Operating a camera system that includes a forward-facing camera directed at a forward scene and a rearward-facing camera directed at a rearward scene opposite the forward scene includes analyzing a video stream containing a reflection of the forward scene in a cornea of an eye of a user of the camera system, the video stream captured with the rearward-facing camera. The analyzing includes identifying an item in the reflection moving relative to a field of view of the forward-facing camera and predicted to enter the field of view of the forward-facing camera and identifying a characteristic of the item. A camera setting of the forward-facing camera is adjusted according to the characteristic of the identified item, the adjusted camera setting selected to improve capturing a photograph or video containing the item with the forward-facing camera.

  • Patent number: 9202262
Abstract: The solution disclosed herein reduces the amount of time and computational resources necessary to determine a dominant gradient direction of an image area comprising a plurality of pixels of an image. To that end, the dominant gradient direction of an image area is determined based on two gradient magnitudes determined from four sample points in the image area, where a direction of one of the gradient magnitudes is perpendicular to a direction of the other of the gradient magnitudes. The dominant gradient direction is then determined by taking the arctangent of the computed gradient magnitudes.

  • Patent number: 9111351
Abstract: A device may obtain, from a camera associated with a reference object, depth image data including objects in a first frame and a second frame; identify features of the objects in the first frame and the second frame; and track movements of the features between the first frame and the second frame. The device may also identify independently moving features in the second frame, based on the tracking movements; remove the independently moving features from the depth image data to obtain a static feature set; and process the depth image data corresponding to the static feature set to detect changes in the relative position of objects in the first frame and the second frame. The processor may further translate the changes in relative position into corresponding movement data of the camera and provide the corresponding movement data to an inertial navigation system.
