  • Patent number: 5401326
Abstract: This invention relates to microemulsion cleaners comprising (a) an organic solvent (b) a surfactant blend comprising an anionic and nonionic surfactant (c) a glycol ether (d) morpholine, and (e) water. These cleaners can be used for removing baked-on oil and carbon deposits.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Drew Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Joseph Mihelic, Lionel B. Luttinger
  • Patent number: 5338346
Abstract: This invention relates to a soft coating for ferrous metal surfaces tanks, having a thickness of about 1-10 mils, comprising over-based alkaline aliphatic-aromatic organic sulfonate salt, an alkaline earth metal or zinc salt of a naphthalene sulfonate, a drying oil, a metal drier, and a paraffinic oil. The coating is particularly useful for coating ferrous metal surfaces, such as ballast tanks, which are exposed to seawater. The invention also relates to a process for inhibiting the corrosion of ballast tanks.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 21, 1993
Date of Patent: August 16, 1994
    Assignee: Ashland Oil, Inc.
Inventors: Lionel B. Luttinger, Rosanna P. Rudy, Paul J. Holtzapfel
  • Patent number: 5073354
Abstract: Gold and silver are stripped from activated carbon on which they are adsorbed as cyanide complexes by subjecting the activated carbon to a stripping solution comprising as the strippant an effective amount of a compound containing the carboxylate functionality. The compound is preferably selected from benzoic and substituted benzoic acids, and polyacrylic acids of less than about 100,000 m.w.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 26, 1990
Date of Patent: December 17, 1991
    Assignee: Drew Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Everett J. Fuller, Lionel B. Luttinger, Mark G. Lang
  • Patent number: 4929274
Abstract: Heap leaching of gold/silver ores with an aqueous alkali cyanide solution containing a surfactant hydrolyzable at the pH of the solution, the surfactant being present in an amount sufficient to increase the rate of metal value recovery without adversely affecting the carbon efficiency in the subsequent step of separating the metal cyanide value from the pregnant leach solution by absorption on carbon columns.
