  • Publication number: 20200290585
Abstract: The invention concerns an electronic parking brake system (2), comprising an air supply (4), a check valve (6), connected to the air supply, an electro-pneumatic control unit (8), at least one park brake actuator (10), a relay valve (12), comprising a first port (12a) connected to the check valve, a second port (12b) connected to the electro-pneumatic control unit, a third port (12c) connected to the park brake actuator and a fourth port (12d) which is in communication with the atmosphere, and an electrically actuated valve (14), which is controlled by the electro-pneumatic control unit (8) and which includes a first orifice (14a) connected to a compressed air line (16) extending between the check valve and the air supply, a second orifice (14b), a third orifice (14c) connected to the electro-pneumatic control unit (8), and preferably a vent orifice. The second orifice (14b) is connected to another compressed air line (18) extending between the check valve (6) and the first port (12a) of the relay valve (12).

  • Publication number: 20200207317
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for utilizing a park brake system to improve the deceleration of a vehicle in the event of failure of the service brake system, the service brake system comprising a brake pedal (2) and at least one air supply circuit (40, 42, 44), the method including the steps of a) measuring the pressure in the air supply circuit, in particular in an air tank (40, 42) of the air supply circuit, and b) when the pressure in the air supply circuit falls below a certain value, switching the park brake system from a normal mode, wherein the park brake system is released, to an assistance mode. In the assistance mode, the park brake system assists the service brake system only if the brake pedal (2) is depressed until reaching a threshold position different from a rest position.

  • Patent number: 10525956
Abstract: A brake arrangement including hybrid brake actuators includes pneumatic and electric brake actuators, and is designed to overcome pneumatic failures by electrical brake actuators. The pneumatic can thus be lightened and less energy consuming. In particular, only one compressed air tank can be used for all the axles.

  • Publication number: 20190337502
Abstract: An electronically controlled pneumatic brake system for a vehicle, with a normal brake operating mode (NOM) and a backup brake operating mode (BKM), said system comprising: a front axle brake module (FBM) for providing pneumatic control pressure to the left and right front pneumatic brake actuators (FW-L, FW-R), one or more rear axle brake module (RBM) for providing pneumatic control pressure to the left and right rear pneumatic brake actuators (RW-L, RW-R), a trailer brake interface (5), an air production module (6) selectively providing air under pressure to said axles electronic brake modules (FBM, RBM) via first and second air supply circuits (AC1,AC2), a trailer relay valve (1), wherein each of the front and rear axle brake modules (FBM, RBM) is controlled by an electrical control signal (NBC, ES1,ES2) under the normal brake operating mode (NOM) and is controlled by a pneumatic backup brake control line (BKC) under the backup brake operating mode (BKM), wherein the output (12) of trailer relay valve i

  • Patent number: 10343665
Abstract: A method for controlling the braking system of a vehicle when the vehicle is switching from a standstill state where parking brake is applied to a driving state includes at least the following steps: a) detecting at least one starting condition of the vehicle, b) determining at least one parking condition of the vehicle, c) assessing whether said parking condition is favorable or unfavorable, d) if said parking condition is considered to be favorable at step c), starting to release the parking brake, and e) after step d), starting to apply the service brake.
