  • Patent number: 7409207
Abstract: The present invention provides a communication system and method via which users can obtain assistance from an operator on the use of their equipment such as, for example, a mobile phone. The user contacts the operator, who, using data relating to the equipment, retrieved from a database, talks the user through the use of their equipment. As the user attempts to give effect to any operator instructions, feedback is provided to the operator on the progress made by the user in attempting to implement those instructions.

  • Patent number: 7296272
Abstract: A system accesses, from a first computer program written in a first computer language, functionality available through a second computer program written in a second computer language. The system has an interface intermediate the first and second programs for enabling access between the first program and the second program. The interface includes (a) a first handler in the second computer language for receiving messages from the functionality and (b) a second handler for retrieving messages, via the interface, that the first handler receives. The second handler is part of the first program.

  • Publication number: 20060172740
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a communication network comprising a plurality of connection modules each operable for enabling one or more communication devices to connect to the network to access a set of communication functions provided by the network, the network being arranged such that communication devices connected through a predetermined connection module have access only to a sub-set of the set of communication functions.

  • Publication number: 20050097529
Abstract: A method, and a corresponding development environment, is described for providing access functions to substructure fields within a data structure, such as an octet string, defined using a standard datatype definition, such as an ASN.1 definition, comprising: labeling the data structure within the standard definition; providing a corresponding definition of the substructure; generating from the labeled standard datatype definition and the corresponding substructure definition, a table that links the data structure with position data positioning the substructure with respect to the data structure; compiling the standard datatype definition to generate access functions for the data structure; and generating access functions for the substructure fields by combining the access functions for the data structure and using the position information from the generated table to access to data items therein.
