Publication number: 20210029049Abstract: Configurable levels of latency in data flows based on application type. An application type for a data flow is identified. The application type is one of a plurality of types that include a first type associated with applications that retransmit missing data packets not received by the intended recipient and a second type associated with applications that do not retransmit missing data packets not received by the intended recipient. Data packets of a data flow are enqueued onto a particular queue of two or more queues based on their identified application type. Each of the two or more queues store data packets of a different application type to be sent across a communication channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 23, 2020Publication date: January 28, 2021Inventors: Lior Assouline, Alex Muller, Nimrod Ben-Natan, Amir Leventer

Publication number: 20120271922Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for providing client-server data transfer over a Hybrid Fiber Coax network, comprising interfacing, at a client, a channel, wherein the channel is one of a video channel and a DOCSIS channel, intercepting a content request made from an end-user computing device, notifying a server of a relevant intercepted message via one of using an interactive channel and tagging the request, selecting content sent by the server over the channel, processing the content selected so as to return it to its IP traffic format, and forwarding the content in its IP traffic format to the end-user computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2011Publication date: October 25, 2012Applicant: Harmonic Inc.Inventors: Lior Assouline, Amir Leventer

Patent number: 8218651Abstract: A method for splicing a first data stream that conveys a first single program transport stream (SPTS) and a second data stream that conveys a second SPTS, the method includes: receiving first data stream metadata units representative of first data stream packets, second data stream metadata units representative of second data stream packets and a request to perform a splicing operation at a n?th splicing point; performing, in response to the splicing request, transport stream layer processing of the first data stream metadata units and of the second data stream metadata units such as to provide a control output stream; and transmitting an output stream in response to the control output stream.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2007Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: ARRIS Group, IncInventors: Amit Eshet, Lior Assouline, Edward Stein

Patent number: 7844015Abstract: A method and system for calibrating a quadrature modulator. The method includes: determining a set of sideband calibration frequencies; for each sideband calibration frequency out of the set of sideband calibration frequencies: inputting an input signal having the sideband calibration frequency to the quadrature modulator; measuring a sideband signal power level; determining at least one calibration parameter in response to phase and gain imbalances expected at the measured sideband signal power level.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2006Date of Patent: November 30, 2010Assignee: Bigband Networks, Inc.Inventor: Lior Assouline

Patent number: 7764863Abstract: A method for facilitating trick plays includes receiving a request to change a display mode of a certain media stream; fetching a media stream associated data structure associated with the certain media stream; and processing the media stream associated data structure and in response providing a media stream that complies with the requested display mode. The media stream associated data structure may include pointers to independently decodable frames of the certain media stream, and the provision of the changed mode media stream includes transmitting at least some of said independently decodable frames, optionally with duplicating frames, having their timing information adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2003Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Bigband Networks Inc.Inventors: Nery Strasman, Lior Assouline

Publication number: 20090199250Abstract: The invention is directed to a method comprising intercepting a download request, originally directed to an original destination, for content; processing the download request; searching for the content in a local cache; servicing the download request from the local cache if the content is found in the local cache; forwarding the download request to the original destination if the content is not found in the local cache; and notifying a server of the intercepted download request, wherein the server transmits the content to one or more clients via one or more video channels. The invention is also directed to a method comprising listening for requests from a client; receiving, from the client, an intercepted download request for content; managing the amount of available bandwidth in one or more video channels; encapsulating the content in a format suitable for video channels; and transmitting the content to one or more clients via one or more video channels.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2008Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: Harmonic Inc.Inventors: Lior Assouline, Amir Leventer
