  • Patent number: 7468242
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide Dermal Micro Organs (DMOs), methods and apparatuses for producing the same. Some embodiments of the invention provide a DMO including a plurality of dermal components, which substantially retain the micro-architecture and three dimensional structure of the dermal tissue from which they are derived, having dimensions selected so as to allow passive diffusion of adequate nutrients and gases to cells of the DMO and diffusion of cellular waste out of the cells so as to minimize cellular toxicity and concomitant death due to insufficient nutrition and accumulation of waste in the DMO. Some embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatuses for harvesting the DMO. An apparatus for harvesting the DMO may include, according to some exemplary embodiments, a support configuration to support a skin-related tissue structure from which the DMO is to be harvested, and a cutting tool able to separate the DMO from the skin-related tissue structure.

  • Publication number: 20040112510
Abstract: Method of holding in place a transcutaneous implant by applying an adhesive in liquid form to the implant and the area of the patient's skin about the needle and allowing the adhesive to set. The implant is constituted by an infusion needle, a catheter or any transcutaneous implant. Whenever the adhesive is in liquid form, it has such a surface tension that it will flow along the implant and the skin to reach a terminal point, which is the point at which the implant is inserted. The adhesive is applied in liquid form and flows along the implant and the skin to reach the point at which the implant is inserted, and then allowed to set to hold the implant in place.

  • Patent number: 6063094
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a skin graft preparation device, or mesher. This device is designed to incise and "mesh" a piece of skin, usually prior to grafting to allow it to expand and cover an area larger than its donor site area. More specifically, the invention relates to an adjustable mesher device wherein the mesher has an adjustable meshing drum (roller) or drums useful for the meshing of the entire range of meshing ratios, thus eliminating the need to keep various meshing devices. Another embodiment of the mesher has two consecutive meshing drums. A further embodiment of the mesher has a rotatable common holder allowing selection from a number of meshing drums. These meshers can mesh skin in both powered and manual modes of operation and may be used with most existing graft carriers or may be used without any carrier. The present invention further relates to a system for using the mesher.
