    Abstract: An electrical connector for use between two devices having conductive regions between which an electrical connection is to be formed, the electrical connection comprising, a housing including a passage therethrough, a conductive element of an elongate conductive material disposed within the passage. The conductive element is formed to define an upper contact region and a lower contact region for engagement to an upper the device and a lower the device respectively. Also provided are a location region which secures the conductive element to the housing, a beam region including a first end dependent from the location region and a free end at or towards which the upper contact region is located. The beam is resiliently deflectable to a position wherein the upper device is positioned for use having the upper contact region pressed thereto and wherein the upper contact is biased towards the first position. The conductive element is formed by out of plane bending to position the second beam back over the first beam, so that the wiping action by the first contract region of the second beam in a direction transverse to the compression engagement direction is controlled by geometry selection of the beams.

The conductive elements are of a kind formed from an elongate sheet material which has been bent out of plane to define at least a first contact region a second contact region and a beam region intermediate of the first end second regions, the first and second contact regions being in a resiliently movable disposition relative to each other. Each conductive element is captured with the receiving region yet allowing movement of the contact regions relative to the housing. The capture includes the inter-engagement a locking section of conductive element and of the housing as a result of a cantilevered fixing of the conductive element to the housing in the in plane direction and the biasing of the locking section of the conductive element towards inter engagement as a result of the in plane rigidity of the conductive elements.

    Abstract: An ejection mechanism for an electrical connector, especially a double-deck PCMCIA card header/electrical connector, has a single card eject selection button and associated ejection shaft that is manually positionable to selectively engage and actuate upper or lower card ejectors through respective upper or lower ejector push-rods. The user manually positions the selection button so as to only eject one of the upper or lower cards. Upon actuation of the selection button and subsequent ejection of the desired card from the selected upper or lower connector slot, the selection button returns to a pre-selection or initial position. The selection button includes a safety mechanism that prevents accidental ejection of the nonselected card.
