    Abstract: A method for managing upstream burst overhead parameters includes: an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) or an Optical Network Unit (ONU) detects transmission quality of a downlink between the OLT and the ONU; the OLT or the ONU determines the upstream burst overhead parameters suitable for the ONU according to the transmission quality; and the ONU starts to use the upstream burst overhead parameters suitable for the ONU after the switching time determined by the ONU itself or indicated by the OLT. The present invention also provides an ONU and an OLT for managing the upstream burst overhead parameters. The present invention can improve the bandwidth utilization rate and decrease the complexity of indicating the upstream burst overhead parameters in PON system, so that the ONU and the OLT are enabled to flexibly and simply select the upstream burst overhead parameters.

    Abstract: The invention discloses a time synchronization method and system for a passive optical network (PON) system to solve the problem that an ONU cannot be synchronized with an OLT accurately in the PON. The invention implements the time information synchronization between the ONU and the OLT by using a management path. The time information includes an information transmission delay between the ONU and the OLT and the sending time identifier information of the time information. The invention avoids the technical defect of the unfixed delay for an upper layer protocol data message in a GPON by using the characteristic that a PLOAM message or an OMCI message is not segmented during the transmission thereof in the PON, thus ensuring every ONU can be synchronized with the OLT accurately.

    Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention are an alarm processing method and device for a PON system in power-saving mode, for solving the technical problem that the PON system cannot process the alarm or exception message after the ONU enters power-saving state and the management server is misled to deem that the system is abnormal. In the present invention, when the OLT detects the alarm generated for a certain ONU, it acquires the current power-saving working state of the ONU, and if the ONU is currently in power-saving state (such as doze state, i.e. Tx mode), the OLT suppresses, discards or shields the relevant alarm by the ONU currently in power-saving state. By way of the present invention, the alarm processing pressure can be alleviated and the real state of the ONU can be reflected.
