  • Publication number: 20240127468
Abstract: Various of the disclosed embodiments contemplate systems and methods for assessing structural complexity within an intra-surgical environment. For example, in some embodiments, surface characteristics from three-dimensional models of a patient interior, such as a colon, bronchial tube, esophagus, etc. may be used to infer the surface's level of complexity. Once determined, complexity may inform a number of downstream operations, such as assisting surgical operators to identify complex regions requiring more thorough review, the automated recognition of healthy or unhealthy tissue states, etc. While some embodiments apply to generally cylindrical internal structures, such as a colon or branching pulmonary pathways, etc., other embodiments may be used within other structures, such as inflated laparoscopic regions between organs, joints, etc. Various embodiments also consider graphical and feedback indicia for representing the complexity assessments.

  • Publication number: 20230057639
Abstract: A device pairing system is configured to determine that an auxiliary device detects an ultrasonic beacon emitted by a beacon generator and identify, in response to the determination that the auxiliary device detects the ultrasonic beacon, a medical system associated with the ultrasonic beacon. The auxiliary device is further configured to communicatively pair, in response to the identification of the medical system, the auxiliary device with the identified medical system.

  • Publication number: 20210378748
Abstract: In certain examples, an anatomical structure visualization system determines a distance between a point on an anatomical surface visible to an endoscope and a point on an embedded anatomical object that is visually occluded from the viewpoint of the endoscope by the anatomical surface. The anatomical structure visualization system may determine, based on the determined distance, a display parameter for a pixel of an image representative of a view of the anatomical surface from the viewpoint of the endoscope and assign the determined display parameter to the pixel of the image. The anatomical structure visualization system may similarly determine and assign display parameters to other pixels of the image and provide the image for display. The displayed image may provide a visualization of an anatomical structure at a surgical area, including a visualization of how deep the embedded anatomical object is positioned from the anatomical surface.

  • Publication number: 20210205027
Abstract: A context-awareness system, which is communicatively coupled to a computer-assisted surgical system during a surgical session in which the computer-assisted surgical system performs one or more operations with respect to a patient, determines that a user device is communicatively paired with the computer-assisted surgical system during the surgical session, identifies a user role associated with the user device, accesses surgical session data generated during the surgical session and based on the one or more operations performed by the computer-assisted surgical system, detects, based on the surgical session data, an event that occurs with respect to the computer-assisted surgical system during the surgical session, identifies, based on the detected event, contextual information associated with the event and that is specific to the user role associated with the user device, and transmits, to the user device, a command for the user device to present the contextual information associated with the event.

  • Publication number: 20210158947
Abstract: A beacon-based metrics system may track events associated with a user device located within a medical facility, determine that the user device detects a beacon emitted by a beacon generator located within the medical facility, and identify information included in the beacon. The beacon-based metrics system may generate medical facility metrics data representative of the tracked events by identifying a set of tracked events that occur during a time period in which the user device detects the beacon and associating the information included in the beacon with the set of tracked events.

  • Publication number: 20210158955
Abstract: An application management system may provide, while a user device detects a beacon associated with a medical system, a user of the user device with access to a first set of medical session features of an application executed by the user device. The application management system may also provide, while the user device does not detect the beacon, the user with access to a second set of medical session features of the application, the second set of medical session features being different from the first set of medical session features.
