Abstract: An example computing device may generate a plurality of snowfall categories for a region and a plurality of snowfall category combinations at the region for a time frame that includes a plurality of time segments. The device may calculate a forecast of unit sales of a weather-dependent product over the time frame for each snowfall category combination based on past weather data for the region and past sales data of the weather-dependent product. The device may calculate a probability that each snowfall category combination will occur in the time frame. The device may determine a quantity of the weather-dependent product to place in inventory prior to or at the beginning of the time frame configured to approximate demand for the product over the entire time frame based on forecasted unit sales and the probabilities that each snowfall category combination will occur in the time frame.

Abstract: A first set of a plurality of assortment packs that include a plurality of different versions of an item to be sold at a plurality of retail stores is determined based at least in part on forecasted sales of the item at each of the plurality of retail stores. Each retail store is associated with an assortment pack based at least in part on the forecasted sales of the item at the retail store such that the plurality of retail stores is grouped into a plurality of clusters of retail stores. The distribution of the different versions of the item of at least one of the plurality of assortment packs is changed based at least in part on the forecasted sales of the item at each retail store of the cluster of retail stores with which the at least one of the plurality of assortment packs has been associated.

Abstract: The risk of losing sales of an item in a retail store due to the item not being on the retail store's shelves for customers to purchase is reduced. An item an item at a retail store may be identified as being at risk based at least in part on a sales volatility of the item and on a frequency of the item selling beyond its sales floor capacity within a day. A minimum number of facings for the item in the retail store may be determined based at least in part on an average daily capacity of the item, an average number of facings for the item, and a specified amount of daily sales of the item. The determined minimum number of facings for the item in the retail store may be reported.
