Abstract: A budget software application is provided to aid corporate client systems in analysis of electronic invoices from law firm systems by: prompting at least one of the corporate client systems to provide invoice identifying information to properly identify an invoice from one of the law firm systems, the invoice identifying information including at least an identified billing matter; prompting at least one of the corporate client systems to define a budgeted item; prompting at least one of the corporate client systems to define a budgeted amount for the budgeted item; and storing the budgeted item and the budgeted amount. A rules engine that permits creation of rules for such budgeted items is also provided. Machine readable medium and related electronic invoice processing systems having such media for performing such functions is also provided.

Abstract: A rules engine application for an electronic invoice processing system that automatically adjusts an electronic invoice by analyzing the electronic invoice, detecting if a rule condition associated with the invoice is violated, and adjusting the submitted total invoice to an adjusted total invoice amount if the detecting step detects the rule is violated. A machine readable medium and related electronic invoice processing systems having such a machine readable medium that stores instructions for performing such functions are also provided.

A transaction management engine comprises means for establishing a secure session with a receiving system and with a first participating system through the network circuit, means for receiving a quantitative evaluation parameter set from the receiving system, means for receiving an import electronic transaction file from the first participating system, and means for providing an export electronic transaction file to the receiving system. The export file comprises the plurality of data element values and comprises a message that includes a resultant value calculated by applying the quantitative evaluation parameter to the data element values.
