Patent number: 11369083Abstract: A canine trail boot has a molded sole having raised lugs that conform to the pad shape of a dog's foot. These lugs divide the sole into individual pad cups, each that receive a single pad from the dog foot. Features are provided that allow some independent movement between adjacent pad cups that better replicates a dog's pad movement. The molded sole may include a toe having unidirectional treads, and may also include a tail having a combination of treads that also receive and retain straps, and a raised protrusion that engages with an indentation on a dog's paw to retain a boot securely. The sole interior may be layered with one or more insoles that provide the selection of puncture resistance, heat isolation or reflection, and other custom interior features.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2016Date of Patent: June 28, 2022Assignee: COSMIC PET BRANDS LLCInventors: Stephen E. Patent number: 10238089Abstract: A dog boot is fabricated using a breathable substrate, preferably of durable material such as heavy nylon. Onto the substrate, various friction pads, wear pads, tensioning straps, and strategically located cushioning pads are attached. Specially configured slits ensure that a wide range of leg sizes relative to paw sizes may be accommodated, while easing application of the boot and eliminating any risk of bunching. In some embodiments, a liner is fabricated that incorporates a friction pad. The liner may be removable or permanently affixed.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2018Date of Patent: March 26, 2019Assignee: Hyper Pet Brands LLCInventors: Stephen E. Paxton, Lisa M. Lugo-Paxton

Patent number: 9497932Abstract: A canine wound boot is fabricated using a breathable substrate having two layers of generally open weave and a fibrous material spacing and bonding the two layers together. Onto the substrate, various friction pads, wear pads, one or more straps, and strategically located cushions are attached. Specially configured slits ensure that a wide range of leg sizes relative to paw sizes may be accommodated, while easing application of the boot and eliminating any risk of bunching. Elastic material serves as a gusset in the boot which expands to cover a bandage or cast.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2012Date of Patent: November 22, 2016Inventors: Stephen E. Paxton, Lisa M. Patent number: 8561577Abstract: An adjustable dog harness has a pair of adjustable length neck straps through which a dog's head passes. A chest strap passes from the neck under the chest and back, to connect with a pair of adjustable length side straps. These side straps pass up from the chest strap to a belly region that may optionally include a belly strap. The side straps are formed into folds, at approximately 45 degree angles, to continue as adjustable length back straps to the adjustable length neck straps. A sliding position ring couples a lead or leash to the side/back strap folds. Buckles are provided in the side straps, and in the optional belly strap, to permit rapid placement and removal of the harness. Through appropriate adjustment of the side and back straps, the harness will alternatively be adapted to function as a pulling, walking, or vehicle harness and for other diverse applications.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2008Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Inventors: Stephen E. Patent number: 7284505Abstract: A complete skijor system is illustrated, which includes a novel dog harness, safety tension release, and skijor belt. The system facilitates rapid deployment by requiring only five buckles, while providing exceptional safeguards for dog, skier, and adjacent parties. The harness includes uniquely arranged belly and neck straps which serve the dual function of skijor and car harness. The quick release operates by shear of hook and loop type fasteners, and may use other types of attachment means instead of or in addition to the hook and loop. A manual release is provided which supplements the intrinsic over-tension protection. The skijor belt has novel anti-slip material on an internal surface, and a special holding loop opposed to the lead attachment. The holding loop permits a second person to grab the belt and restrain a skier, such as is useful at the start of a skijor race.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2004Date of Patent: October 23, 2007Inventors: Stephen E.
